The present invention concerns an improved process for biorefinery of brown macroalgae, which comprises: (a) contacting the brown macroalgae with a solvent system comprising at least 30 wt% organic solvent, to obtain extracted macroalgae as solid residue and a liquor; and (b) biorefining the extracted macroalgae. The inventors have found that the contacting of step (a) results in an efficient and cost-effective dewatering of the macroalgae, wherein up to 95 wt% of the internal moisture of the macroalgae could be lost without the need for energy-consuming drying techniques. As such, the downstream biorefinery of the extracted macroalgae is greatly facilitated.

Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Herstellung einer biokompatiblen Schicht auf einer Implantatoberfläche eines Implantats bestehend aus Polyetheretherketon. Der Erfindung liegt die Aufgabe zugrunde, eine Möglichkeit anzugeben, wodurch die positiven Eigenschaften von PEEK als Implantatmaterial im Hinblick auf Einwachsverhalten, Biokompatibilität und Resorbierbarkeit der Beschichtung verbessert werden können. Erfindungsgemäß wird die Aufgabe mit einem Verfahren zur Herstellung einer biokompatiblen Schicht auf einer Implantatoberfläche eines Implantats, bestehend aus Polyetheretherketon, dadurch gelöst, dass zunächst die Implantatoberfläche durch Reduktion der Ketogruppe mit Hydroxylgruppen oder durch Auftragen einer SiO x - Beschichtung mit Hydroxylgruppen versehen wird, dann eine Kopplungsschicht mittels einer Kopplungsreagenz, ausgewählt aus der Substanzklasse der Mono-Polyisocyanate, aufgebracht wird, indem über Urethanbindungen eine Anknüpfung an die Hydroxylgruppen der Implantatoberfläche erfolgt und abschließend eine Biopolymerschicht mittels eines modifiziertes Biopolymers, ausgewählt aus den Substanzklassen der Polysaccharide und/oder Glykosaminoglykane, aufgebracht wird, indem über Urethan- und/oder Harnstoffbindungen eine Anknüpfung an die Kopplungsschicht erfolgt.
