Abstract:
A method and apparatus for generating channel quality indicator (CQI), precoding matrix indicator (PMI) and rank information are disclosed. The method and apparatus reduces feedback overhead and defines differential CQI information in an orthogonal frequency division multiplex (OFDM) symbol.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus are described for obtaining demodulation reference signal (DMRS) port index information. In one scenario, an evolved Node-B (eNodeB), having a plurality of antenna ports, disables a codeword in a downlink (DL) control indicator (DCI), uses an unused new data indicator (NDI) bit of the disabled codeword as a DMRS port index information field, and transmits the DCI. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) receives the DCI from the eNodeB and obtains a DMRS port index from the unused NDI bit of the disabled codeword in the received DCI. In another scenario, a DCI including a disabled codeword and a resource allocation header bit in a DMRS port index information field of the DCI is received by the WTRU. The WTRU re-interprets the resource allocation header bit in the DCI as a DMRS port index.
Abstract:
Method and apparatus for random access in multicarrier wireless communications are disclosed. Methods and apparatus are provided for physical random access channel (PRACH) resource signaling, PRACH resource handling, preamble and PRACH resource selection, random access response (RAR) reception, preamble retransmission, and transmission and reception of subsequent messages. A method for maintaining an allowed multicarrier uplink (UL) random access channel (RACH) configuration set by adding an UL carrier to the allowed RACH configuration set provided that a triggering event occurs and performing a random access (RA) procedure using the allowed RACH configuration set. A method for sending data in multicarrier wireless communications by determining a set of available UL carriers and selecting an UL carrier from the set of available UL carriers.
Abstract:
A method optimizes a selection of primary synchronization channel (P-SCH) sequences from an available set of P-SCH indices for a dedicated Multimedia Broadcast/Multicast Service (MBMS). The criteria for selecting P-SCH indices include coprimeness, frequency offset sensitivity, multipath sensitivity, cross-correlation property in the time domain, auto-correlation property in the time domain and computation complexity at the receiver.

Abstract:
A method and apparatus for estimating noise for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) are disclosed. A time domain difference signal and a frequency domain difference signal between two consecutive received pilot symbols are calculated. A time domain noise power is calculated from the time domain difference signal and a frequency domain noise power is calculated from the frequency domain difference signal. The time domain noise power and the frequency domain noise power are combined to estimate the noise power.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus may be used to enable reception of a downlink (DL) shared channel in a cooperative multipoint transmission (CoMP). The method and apparatus may determine whether CoMP is applied to a transmission. The method and apparatus may acquire other CoMP related information. The method and apparatus may apply to non-transparent CoMP scenarios.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for a wireless transmit receive unit (WTRU) to use a contention-based uplink communications channel, applies a rule-based restriction of access to the contention-based uplink channel that attempts to use at least one contention-free uplink channel allocation for uplink transmissions on a condition that at least one contention-free uplink channel allocation has been granted.

Abstract:
A method and apparatus for reducing feedback transmission overhead in wireless communications. Averaging, compression, or both are used to reduce a number of bits needed for transmission of channel quality information.
