Abstract: A battery assembly is provided for an electric vehicle that include a housing, one or more battery units, and a connector. The housing has a forward side, a rearward side, a bottom side, and a top portion. The top portion is configured to project into a space between adjacent frame rails. The housing also has a lateral portion configured to extend under a bottom surface of one of the adjacent frame rails. The one or more battery units are disposed within the top portion of the housing. The connector disposed over the lateral portion of the housing. The connector being configured to releasably coupled with one of the adjacent frame rails.

Abstract: A power distribution assembly includes a mounting system and a power distribution unit. The mounting system has a frame rail interface disposed along lateral sides of the power distribution assembly. The power distribution unit has a housing and a cable junction disposed on an exterior of the housing. The housing has an upper portion coupled with the frame rail interface and a lower portion disposed below the mounting system. The power distribution unit has one or more fuses, a contactor, and a charge circuit disposed in the housing. The lower portion of the housing has an access panel accessible from beneath a vehicle to which the power distribution assembly is coupled. Such access may be gained by removing a debris deflector and the housing. The power distribution assembly can be electrically coupled with a battery assembly and a charge inlet assembly, which can be coupled to the battery assembly.

Abstract: A breakaway mitigation system is provided for addressing breakaway between a tractor and a trailer unit of a truck. The breakaway mitigation system can include a spool assembly, a sensor, and a controller. The spool assembly has a spool body configured to deploy a length of a tether coupled with the spool body and configured to couple with an energy source supply conduit and to retract the length of the tether. The energy source supply conduit is configured to convey a source of energy for use by a motor or by a fuel cell. The sensor is configured to detect the length of the tether that has been deployed. The controller is configured to receive an input corresponding to the detected length and to implement a countermeasure when the detected amount exceeds a threshold value. Mitigation can be provided by a coupler that decouples under a load over a threshold.

Abstract: A heavy duty power distribution system is provided that includes an electric vehicle control module and a cable interface coupled with the electric vehicle control module. The electric vehicle control module includes an electric vehicle frame assembly and a power distribution component coupled with the electric vehicle control module frame assembly. The electric vehicle control module frame assembly is configured to support components of the electric vehicle control module on a vehicle frame rail, e.g., behind a cab thereof. A cowling is disposed around the power distribution component. The cable interface has a first junction and a second junction which are configured to connect the power distribution component with a power source and a load respectively.
