Abstract:
A connector assembly for rotational tools including a boss adapted to hold a tool and having a plurality of connecting projections, typically shafts. The shafts rotationally engage a driving means and longitudinally engage a locking ring that locks the boss, driving means and the locking ring together. This is achieved by the driving means and the locking ring having co-axially aligned bores allowing for the insertion of the shafts. The locking ring is further rotatable between two positions in one engaging the shafts for longitudinal movement and in the other allowing for free longitudinal movement of the shafts. Such an arrangement allows a tool mounted on the boss to be easily and quickly mountable and demountable. The connector assembly can be further used for the connection of static devices without any rotational motion imparted thereto.

A hole saw having a central body portion adapted to receive a hole saw blade portion. The body and the blade have correspondingly shaped apertures and lugs that co-operate together to hold the blade in place. A locking means further assists in ensuring that the blade remains locked to the body and includes a sliding klatch that engages an aperture in the blade and the body and is itself locked in place to thereby lock the blade to the body.

The present invention relates to a dual lock apparatus (10) of the type including a locking bolt (14) moveable between a first locked position and a second unlocked position said bolt movement corresponding with longitudinal movement of a slider (26) said apparatus including a first and a second locking means adapted to operate independently of one another. The first locking means (74) includes a rotatable cam (76) such that when rotated said cam acts against a moveable piston to thereby move said piston from a first position to a second position in which the second locking means becomes disengaged from said slider and further rotation of the cam urges longitudinal movement of the slider. The second locking means includes an electric motor in geared connection to a member (44) moveable between a first position and second position corresponding with the locked and unlocked positions of the bolt said member including an outwardly biased pin (52) adapted to engage the piston cylinder (58) and urge said piston into said piston first position to thereby mechanically connect the second locking means with the slider. The locking means can therefore operate independently of one another.

A hole-saw assembly including a hole-saw having at one end a plurality of cutting teeth and at the other end a base having two holes therethrough. two shafts. The assembly includes a mandrel coaxially aligned with said hole-saw and including a body having two bores therethrough, and an annulus located on top of the body which is coaxially aligned with said mandrel and hole saw. The annulus includes two shafts co-axial with the mandrel bores, and is rotatable around its longitudinal axis from a first to a second position. In the first position the annulus shafts are aligned with the base holes allowing the shafts to be freely insertable and removable and in the second position the shafts are misaligned to lock the shafts to the base. In one embodiment the mandrel bores are shaped to accommodate rotation of the shafts, and in a further embodiment, the shafts are configures to rotate within circular mandrel bores. Such an arrangement allows the hole-saw and the mandrel to be easily and quickly mountable and demountable.

An electronic deadbolt lock arrangement including a lock having a bolt movable between locked and unlocked conditions. The lock includes a manual control means and a power drive to operate the lock that are connected by a decouplable transmission enabling the lock to be operated by either the manual control means or the power drive. The transmission includes two concentric cylinders that can be locked or unlocked for relative rotational movement, with manual operation of the lock decoupling the power drive. A biased pin engages co-operating apertures in the cylinders to lock the two cylinders to each other. A cam operated by the manual drive means acts against the pin to cause the two cylinders to be decoupled.

The assembly includes a mandrel (16) coaxially aligned with said hole-saw and including a body having two bores there through coaxially aligned with said shafts. An annulus (20) located on top of the body is coaxially aligned with said mandrel and hole saw and includes two holes, the annulus rotatable around its longitudinal axis from a first to a second position. In the first position the annulus holes are aligned with the bores and shafts allowing the shafts to be freely insertable and removable and in the second position the holes are misaligned to lock the shafts to the annulus. The mandrel further includes a pair of driving pins (22) adapted to engage driving apertures (24) found in hole saws especially larger ones. Typically the driving pins may biased to enable the assembly to be used even with those hole saws that do not include driving apertures and that also enables easier assembly of the device. A compressible O-ring (42) may further facilitate the operation of the assembly. This device avoids the problem of thread stripping.

The present invention relates to an improved hole saw boss (10) and in particular, to a boss including a threaded member (12) adapted to accommodate two hole saws of the same or different bore thread diameters. The present invention allows for a pre-existing aperture (22) in a work piece to be simply enlarged. This is useful if a new lock mechanism is being installed in a door with a pre-existing aperture where the lock mechanism requires a larger aperture than that which was in existence. Currently the aperture has to be enlarged by manual handwork since there is no centre-point to which a pilot drill may be enlarged. The threaded bore diameters of the present invention correspond with the commonly available hole saw threaded bore diameters. The present invention therefore provides the public with device for enlarging apertures which is simply, cost effective and can be used with currently available hole saws.
