Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and a ID-programming tool (30) for assigning a unique network entity identity number to a network entity (10). The network entity (10) is adapted to perform said method. The network entity (10) comprises a number of subscriber lines (12) and the network entity is adapted to perform at least one line condition test on said subscriber lines at a predefined occasion. Said subscriber lines are encoded to comprise a unique network entity identity number information by means of the ID-programming tool (30). Further, decoding means (42) is adapted to decode the network entity identity number information resulting from said test to gain said network entity identity number. Said network entity identity number is stored in a storage device (20) on the network entity (10).

Abstract: A telecommunication system includes an Internet (1) and a PSTN (2) to which subscribers (S1, S2) are connected via a main distribution frame MDF (41). The subscribers have each a user terminal (10, 20) and a telephone (11, 21) which are connected to the MDF (41) via copper lines (13, 23) and a respective network terminal (12, 22) with a PSTN user modem (16, 26), an xDSL user modem (18, 28) and a splitter/filter (17, 27). The MDF includes a line side device (32) and a station side device (34b), which in turn includes a frequency splitter (51b), a filter (36b) and a modem pool (50b) of high speed modems. Conventionally the modem pool is installed at a separate location, which requires wireing and rewireing. With the modem pool (50b) in the MDF this wireing and rewireing is avoided, which highly simplifies the installation of the modem pool and faulty connection is avoided.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a test apparatus for a broadband telecommunication network. The apparatus comprises an electrical DC power source having a first and a second electrical connection. The test apparatus further comprises a first electrical circuit comprising a first and a second electrical circuit input and a first and a second electrical circuit output. The first and second electrical circuit input are electrically connected to the first and the second electrical connection of the electrical DC power source respectively. Additionally electrical connection is established from the first electrical circuit input to the first electrical circuit output via a first inductor having a first inductance and electrical connection is established from the second electrical circuit input to the second electrical circuit output via a second inductor having a second inductance. A first impedance is transformer coupled to the first inductor. A first test apparatus outlet is electrically connected to the first electrical circuit outlet and a second test apparatus outlet is electrically connected to the second electrical circuit outlet. The first test apparatus outlet and the second test apparatus outlet are adapted for establishing electrical contact to a device to be tested.
