Abstract:
Power adapters are disclosed. An example power adapter includes a housing. The example power adapter also includes a power converter to convert an input power to an output power. The example power adapter also includes a communication port carried by the housing, the port to receive data from a first device. The example power adapter also includes a terminal to transfer power from the power converter to the second device, and to transmit the data received from the first device to the second device. The example power adapter also includes a communication line to communicate the data from the communication port to the terminal.
Abstract:
This disclosure describes techniques operating a client device to com¬ municate with a wireless access point. The client device may awake from a low power mode of operation (401), receive a first portion of a beacon (402) from the access point that includes a delivery traffic identification (DTIM) message (403, 404). According to the techniques described herein, the client device may determine, based on the DTIM message, whether or not one or more packets of data are forthcoming from the access point (405). If one or more packets of data are forth¬ coming from the access point, the client device may remain in an ac¬ tive mode of operation to receive the forthcoming packets (and/or a second portion of the beacon) (406). However, if no packets of data are forthcoming from the access point, the client device may return to the low power mode of operation, before receiving and/or processing the second portion of the beacon (408).
Abstract:
Abstract:
An interactive device having time synchronization capability is provided, including a computer processor that stores an internal clock. The processor may be preprogrammed to generate announcements based on a particular time of the internal clock. A user may input and adjust the time of the internal clock. A setup module is also provided that includes a processor that stores a setup time. The setup module establishes a connection with an interactive device, and time synchronizes the interactive device such that the internal clock of the interactive device is running the same time as the setup module. The setup module can synchronize the internal clock of multiple interactive devices, despite the interactive devices being programmed on separate occasions. The interactive device runs a software program which enables the interactive device to be synchronized by the setup module via a hard-wired connection or by wireless means.
Abstract:
Silicon carbon is used as a diffusion barrier (18,108) to germanium so that a silicon layer (20,110) can be subsequently formed without being contaminated with germanium. This is useful in separating silicon layers (20, 110) from silicon germanium layers (16,106) in situations in which both silicon and silicon germanium are desired to be present on the same semiconductor device (10) such as for providing different materials for optimizing carrier mobility between N and P channel transistors (27) and for a raised source/drain (134,136) of silicon in the case of a silicon germanium body.
Abstract:
A semiconductor structure (10) includes a substrate comprising a first relaxed semiconductor material with a first lattice constant. A semiconductor device layer (34) overlies the substrate, wherein the semiconductor device layer includes a second relaxed semiconductor material (22) with a second lattice constant different from the first lattice constant. In addition, a dielectric layer is interposed between the substrate and the semiconductor device layer, wherein the dielectric layer is interposed between the substrate and the semiconductor device layer, wherein the dielectric layer includes a programmed transition zone disposed within the dielectric layer for transitioning between the first lattice constant and the second lattice constant. The programmed transition zone includes a plurality of layers, adjoining ones of the plurality of layers having different lattice constants with one of the adjoining ones having a first thickness exceeding a first critical thickness required to form defects and another of the adjoining ones having a second thickness not exceeding a second critical thickness. Each adjoining layer of the plurality of layers forms an interface for promoting defects in the transition zone to migrate to and terminate on an edge of the programmed transition zone. A method of making the same is also enclosed.
