Abstract:
The invention is directed to construction implements and methods for their use in the construction of retaining walls, revetments, road ways, suspended floor spans and the like. The basic element is a support sheet comprising an essentially quadrangular sheet folded about at least one longitudinal axis to produce at least one fold in the sheet. This sheet can be used to construct a load bearing surface at any angle. The support sheet can be driven into the ground with the aid of various adapters and attachments. Optionally, for additional strength, the sheet can be tied to the ground by various anchor and rod assemblies. The anchor is pivotally connected to a rod and positioned in the ground in a closed position. When appropriate tension is applied to the rod, the anchor assumes an open position and bites into the ground.
Abstract:
An anchoring system for earth formations comprises an anchor head (40) having two or more pivotal flukes (44) movable between a retracted position and an extended position to secure the anchor in the base of borehole. The anchor head (44) is attached to a rigid tensioning rod (50) about which a tubular driving tool (70) locates to insert the anchor head using cutting blades (43a) in rocky soils. A retractable tubular shroud extends about the driving tool to form a conduit through which loosened earth may be flushed by direction of a pressurized fluid via the driving tool (70). The driving tool (70) is also employed to introduce grout into the borehole. The driving tool (70), with a socket (71) at one end, is operable to rotate a nut (64) to advance a spacer (60) towards the body (41) of the anchor (40), causing the flukes (44) to be swung out from the retracted position.
Abstract:
Cementitious piles may be formed in an earth formation (60) by drilling boreholes (50) and filling the borehole with flowable cementitious grout (70). A hollow pile core (10) of triangular cross section is inserted centrally of the borehole (50) and, if required, additional steel reinforcing rods may be inserted into the borehole in the grout within and around the pile core (10). In some soils a steel borehole jacket (100) may be employed as a liner for the borehole (50).
Abstract:
A panel assembly for a building structure including a support frame that is mountable relative to a building substrate, the support frame including a plurality of first members extending in a first direction and at least one member extending in a second direction and overlaying the members in the first direction, at least one sheeting member provided on at least one side of the support frame so that the support frame and the structural sheeting define a zone for a cementitious material, and a layer of cementitious material positioned against the structural sheeting to at least partially fill the zone.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus to control the use of applications on handheld device is based on network service, the method comprising the steps of: receiving a network identifier; correlating the network identifier with application and/or feature limitations stored on the mobile device; and limiting application usage based on the results of such correlating step.

In a preferred embodiment, R 1 and R 2 are hydrogen, X is CH 2 O, Y is absent, and Z is phenyl substituted with fluoro, cyano, or iodo. In some embodiments, Z is more specifically 18 F-phenyl or 123 I-phenyl or 131 I-phenyl. Other compounds are also provided.

This invention relates to compositions, and methods of use thereof, for (i) enhancing executive cognitive function(s) (for example, decision making, planning, working memory, multitasking, judgment, numerical problem-solving, reading comprehension), and/or (ii) increasing blood flow in brain vasculature, comprising administering to a subject in need thereof, certain polyphenols such as flavanols, procyanidins, or pharmaceutically acceptable salts or derivatives thereof.
Abstract:
A self-adjusting furniture foot assembly has an upper member slidably engaged with a lower member. Between the upper and lower members, a biasing member urges the two apart while a dampening member resists acceleration of the second member toward the first member. Consequently, the foot assembly can slowly compensate to an uneven support surface for an item of furniture, and can quickly reset itself when the furniture is lifted.
Abstract:
A drive circuit for an active backplane LCD comprises an inverter whose digital output (18) swings between two voltage rails providing a drive voltage. The inverter has a pair of n-type MOSFETS (41, 42) and a pair of p-type MOSFETS (43, 44) connected in series, the gate of the first (n-type) MOSFET driven by a first switching waveform, the gates of the middle n- and p- type MOSFETS held at a common mid-rail potential, and the gate of the last (p-type) MOSFET driven by a further switching waveform similar to that of the first voltage switching waveform but having a d.c. offset therefrom, the last MOSFET being switched in antiphase in synchrony with the first MOSFET. The first and further switching waveforms have peak to peak voltages preferably less than or equal to half the inter-rail voltage, thereby minimising the voltage across the gate oxides of the MOSFETS in use.
