Abstract:
A remote transaction station for the automated vending of goods and services sell products, and additionally dispenses at random special products, packaged in the size and shape of vended products by containing promotional prizes. When a special product is dispensed, the selected product is additionally dispensed, without the need to engage in a separate transaction. In one embodiment, special products are interspersed with products in the remote transaction station's inventory, and the dispensing of a special product is detected by an optical, RF, or other detector, prompting the subsequent dispensing of the selected product. In another embodiment, the products and special products are stored in separate inventories, and a special product is dispensed on command based on a pseudo-random number generator in an associated controller. In another embodiment, the remote transaction station is an information kiosk vending digital products. Dispensing of a special product is pseudo-randomly determined and the special product is selected from among available products.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a wireless communication device, such as a transponder, that has a plurality of antennas for multi-frequency usage. The wireless communication device comprises a control system, communication electronics, memory and the aforementioned antennas. A wireless communication device having a pole antenna may be used with one or more loop conductor antennas to achieve the desired operating frequencies. A wireless communication device having a dipole antenna may be coupled across a loop conductor antenna to provide different loop conductor configurations depending on the frequency.
Abstract:
A wireless communication device and method for identifying a container or communication information about a container using a slot in the container as an antenna. The device includes a wireless communication device for transmitting information regarding the container. The container includes an outer wall forming rim and a slot between the rim edge and the outer wall that is cirular and continues without boundaries. The wireless communication device is coupled to the slot to provide the slot antenna for communications. An impedance matching network is additionally provided to make the operating frequency of the slot the same as the operating frequeny of the wireless communication device. Alternatively, shorting posts may be placed in the slot to define boundaries of the slot to match the operating frequency of the slot to the operating frequency of the antenna.
Abstract:
An identification device comprising: wireless communication means; and a mounting structure positioned around said wireless communication means, said mounting structure having a first configuration and a second expanded configuration. The identification device is mounted to a container as follows. The device is inserted through an access opening to a chamber of the container whilst its mounting structure is in its first configuration. Once inside the chamber, the mounting structure is caused to expand to its second expanded configuration to mount the identification device to the container. The wireless communication means of the identification device contains information regarding the container.
Abstract:
An ink jet print head comprising: a top body portion (16), an intermediate body portion (14) having an upper side and a lower side, a plurality of ink channels (36) being disposed in a common plane along the upper side, each of said channels (36) having at least one orifice (42) for projecting ink towards a substrate, the upper side of the intermediate body portion (14) being located adjacent the top body portion (16); a main body portion (12) located adjacent the lower side of the intermediate body portion (14); and an ink heater (46) made of a PTC thermistor material (48), the ink heater (46) having a substantially planar configuration and being located between the lower side of the intermediate body portion (14) and the main body portion (12), the ink heater (46) extending in a plane parallel to the plane of the channels (36) and adjacent thereto. The ink heater (46) is designed to compensate for certain channels (88) which dissipate heat at a higher rate than other ink channels (86). The ink heater (46) includes electrodes (76, 78) formed on the PCT thermistor material (48) in an arrangement or pattern which compensates for the varying heat dissipation of the ink channels (86, 88).
Abstract:
A system for tracking containers for customer shipments using services from third party service providers, comprising a host management system. The host management system allows third party service providers and customers to enter in accounts containing information including preferences for shipping and/or services. The customer logs into the host management system through a network interface to enter in a shipment order. The host management system allows the customer to provide information concerning the shipment to ensure that the shipment can be performed and if any special services are needed from third party service providers. The customer can either choose their own third party service providers or request quotes from third party service providers having a pre-established relationship with the host management system. The host management system receives tracking and other information concerning the shipment and automatically notifies the customer and third party service providers providing services for the customer shipment of the shipment status so that any appropriate actions needed can be reported and/or taken.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a jet ink composition suitable for printing watermarks on paper substrates. The jet ink composition comprises a solvent and a translucentizing agent. An example of a translucentizing agent is sucrose acetate isobutyrate. The present invention further provides a method of ink jet printing watermark on an object comprising projecting a stream of droplets of the ink composition and controlling the direction of the stream so that the droplets form the watermark on the object. The method of the present invention has the advantage that it provides high speed watermarking capability. The method provides a further advantage that it is economical in changing the design of watermarks. The method is versatile and allows changes in the design of watermarks to be incorporated readily.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a transmission device that is coupled to an antenna array on a transportation device to wirelessly communicate with stacked objects and or devices containing wireless communication devices during their transport and/or storage. The transportation device contains a moveable member that may be lowered or raised to move and/or store stacked objects. The transmission device is placed on the moveable member and is coupled to an antenna array on the moveable member to selectively communicate with the stacked objects individually. The transmission device also uses an antenna array or proximity sensors to determine the height and/or number of stacked objects on the moveable member and to determine if a wireless communication device on a stacked object is operational.
Abstract:
The present invention includes a tracking device that is associated with a cargo container. The cargo container is used for shipping of goods and materials and is placed into transportation vessels for shipment. The tracking device includes a GPS for receiving positioning information concerning the location of the cargo container and is adapted to transmit the location of the cargo container remotely. Sensor(s) are also operatively associated with the cargo container and tracking device to sense information concerning the surroundings of the cargo container. The tracking device receives this sensor information and deactivates the tracking device when the cargo container is either inside or in proximity to the aircraft.
Abstract:
