Abstract:
A gasket for automotive engine transmission, made from a cross-linking composition comprising 100 parts by weight of a polymer prepared by dissolving or swelling a noncrystalline fluoropolymer in an acrylic monomer and polymerizing the monomer, 0.1 to 100 parts by weight of a filler, and 0.1 to 10 parts by weight of a cross-linking agent. This gasket is excellent in mechanical strength and resistance to engine oil bubbling at high temperatures and also in compression set, resistances to automatic transmission fluid and long-life coolant, and durability.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to (1) Clathrate hydrate inhibitors which comprises a macromolecular compound in which 5-15 membered ring pendant is directly connected to the polymer main chain through one of the atoms within the ring, e.g., polyvinyl pyrrolidone, polyvinyl piperidinone, polyvinyl caprolactam etc., modified with vinyl monomers; or a macromolecular compound which is obtained by copolymerizing monomers in which 5-15 membered ring pendant is directly connected to the ethylenically unsaturated group through one of the atoms within the ring, e.g., vinylpyrrolidinone, vinylcaprolactam and C3-C6 alkyl (meth) acrylate; and (2) the method of inhibiting the formation of Clathrate hydrates using it.
Abstract:
An adsorbent and adsorbing method which enable a surfactant to be easily, inexpensively and satisfactorily recovered and removed from a surfactant-containing solution, such as waste water. Adsorbents usable herein include, for example, a cross-linked polymer having a polyoxyalkylene chain. The surfactant is adsorbed by bringing the adsorbent having the above constitution into contact with the solution. The cross-linked polymer is particularly preferably one prepared by cross-linking a polyalkylene glycol or one prepared by polymerizing a monomer component containing a (meth)acrylic ester monomer represented by the following general formula: CH2 = CR-CO-(X )n-Y wherein R represents hydrogen or methyl; X represents oxyalkylene having 1 to 5 carbon atoms; Y represents hydrogen, alkoxy having 1 to 5 carbon atoms, phenoxy, or oxyalkylphenyl having 1 to 3 alkyl groups with 1 to 9 carbon atoms as substituents; and n is a positive number of 8 to 100 on the average.

The use of a polydioxolane-containing treatment for water-base ink receptors makes it possible to produce a water-base ink receptor having a water-base ink receiving layer which can absorb a water-base ink at an enhanced speed, is free from the feathering of a water-base ink, little causes feathering of mixed colors in color printing, and is excellent in the color development of a water-base ink.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein are clathrate hydrate inhibitors and the method of inhibiting the formation, agglomeration, and deposition of clathrate hydrate using the inhibitors. The clathrate hydrate inhibitor comprises a macromolecular compound in which 3 - 15 membered ring pendant is connected to the polymer main chain via a specific spacer group such as homo- or co-polymer of (meth)acryloyl pyrrolidine, pyrrolidinocarbonylethyl (meth)acrylate, 2-oxo-pyrrolidino-ethyl (meth)acrylate, glyoxyloyl pyrrolidine, pyrrolidinocarbonyl aspartate.
Abstract:
A process for producing a high-molecular-weight polydioxolane which comprises the steps of polymerizing 1,3-dioxolane in the presence of a polymerization catalyst containing a heteropolyacid and neutralizing the obtained reaction product with an organic amine and/or ammonia. A hydrophilic film which contains the polydioxolane, is made from a resin having a specified molecular weight, and has specified crystallinity and spherulite size. A cold-water-degradable film contains the polydioxolane and is produced by forming a resin having specified molecular weight into film under specified molding conditions or by giving a specified thermal history to the film of this polymer.
