Abstract:
The present invention relates to an improved process for refining glyceride oil which incorporates a basic ionic liquid treatment. In particular, the basic ionic liquid treatment prevents or reduces the formation of chloropropanol fatty acid esters and glycidyl fatty acid esters during the overall refining process. The present invention also relates to glyceride oil compositions formed therefrom and uses of the basic ionic liquid.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a basic ionic liquid treatment for removing chloropropanol and/or glycidol, or their fatty acid esters, from glyceride oil, as well as a process for refining glyceride oil which includes the basic ionic liquid treatment. The present invention also relates to uses of the basic ionic liquid and glyceride oil compositions obtained from the ionic liquid treatment.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a process for the removal of free fatty acids from glyceride oils, especially palm oil. In particular, the present invention is directed to a process wherein specific ionic liquids are utilised for removing free fatty acids contained in glyceride oils, preferably palm oil, such that a glyceride oil, having a reduced content of free fatty acids may be obtained. The invention also relates to treated glyceride oil compositions, preferably treated palm oil compositions, comprising certainionic liquids to prevent build-up of free fatty acids in stored oil.

Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a process for removing metal contaminants from glyceride oil and a refining process incorporating the same. In particular, the present invention is directed to a process wherein certain basic ionic liquids are used for treating glyceride oil. The present invention also relates to uses of the basic ionic liquid and to glyceride oil compositions obtained from the ionic liquid treatment.
