In a paper production machine, trim is cut at a trim station located near a final reel with a trim handling duct leading into a recycling pulper. The trim is propelled into the pulper using an air jet without using a source of vacuum in the duct. A linear air jet for propelling trim in a trim duct is also disclosed.

A paper-making machine and process, in which a paper web passes over a pope roller to a main roll and a new roll can be brought into contact with the pope roller when the main roll becomes a full roll, is improved by arranging at least two paper cutting tools to cut a paper web from each of two outer lateral edges to form two or more leader portions. A tail of the paper web formed on the full roll is symmetric and the leader portions on the new roll are also symmetric. Adhesive spray or tape can be applied to the paper web in the area of the leader portions. Air jets can also be used to bias the leader portions towards a surface of the new roll.

Die Erfindung betrifft eine Vorrichtung und ein Verfahren zur Reinigung des Laufbands (1) eines Trockensiebs in einer Papierherstellungsanlage. Die Vorrichtung umfasst wenigstens eine Reinigungsdüse (40) zur Erzeugung eines Hochdruckstrahls (60) einer Flüssigkeit mit einem Auftreffpunkt (61) auf dem Laufband, wenigstens einen Reinigungskopf (80) mit einer Abführöffnung (84) und einer dem Laufband (1) zugewandten Hauptöffnung (81), wobei die Reinigungsdüse (40) außerhalb des Reinigungskopfes (80) angeordnet ist. Bei dem erfindungsgemäßen Verfahren wird das Lauf band (1) mit wenigstens einem Hochdruckstrahl (60) einer Flüssigkeit bestrahlt, wobei die Reinigungsvorrichtung einen Reinigungskopf (80) aufweist, der einen Innenraum, eine Abführöffnung (84) und eine dem Laufband (1) zugewandte Hauptöffnung (81) aufweist.

A web turn-up cutting method and apparatus for severing a continuous web has a water jet controller adapted to activate a water supply of first and second water nozzles and a carriage controller adapted to actuate the nozzle carriages to provide a transversal movement of the first and second water nozzles. The first and second nozzles are adapted to define together a substantially X-shaped cut on the traveling continuous web defining at least a substantially V-shaped tail for ending a forming roll, an opposite substantially V-shaped start for starting a new spool, a detachable first wing and a detachable second wing.

Die Erfindung betrifft eine Verlängerungseinrichtung, welche an die hintere Seite eines Luftleitkastens einer Papierherstellungsanlage anbringbar ist, sowie eine entsprechende Vorrichtung und ein Verfahren zum Schneiden einer Papierbahn. Erfindungsgemäss umfasst die Verlängerungseinrichtung eine Ausnehmung, durch welche eine Schneideinrichtung, wie ein Hochdruckwasserstrahl oder Laserstrahl, die Papierbahn schneiden kann, nachdem diese die Unterseite des Luftleitkastens passiert hat.

A movable water jet edge trimmer (10,160) has an integral trim chute (28,142) attached to a cutting support plate (20,144) for the trimmer (10,160). The support plate (20,144) has a cutting aperture (22,146) and a series of suction apertures (25,152) located inboard of the outside edge (12) of the travelling web (14,124) for supporting the web (14,124) against the support plate (20,144) as a water jet (44) passes out through the cutting aperture (22,146) away from the support plate (20,144) and through the web (14,124). The support plate (20,144) has a curved surface (52) located downstream and outboard of the cutting aperture (22,146) which curves into a trim chute opening (50) of a trim chute (28,142). Negative pressure is applied from the trim chute (28,142) to the trim chute opening (50) to draw any strip of material cut from the edge (12) of the web (14,124) over the curved surface (52) and into the trim chute (28,142).
