Described is a machine (1) for packaging mattresses (100) comprising first movement means (2) configured to move a mattress being processed (3) along a first movement path (P1) and in a first feed direction (V1) and second movement means (8) configured to move a functional layer (9) along a second movement path (P2) and in a second feed direction (V2). The second movement path (P2) is located at least partly above the first movement path (P1) until leading into it at a placement station (10), wherein the functional layer (9) is placed on the mattress being processed (3). Means for applying adhesive material (5) are positioned along the first movement path (P1) and detection means (11) are configured and programmed to detect the position and preferably the dimensions of the mattress being processed (3) and/or of the functional layer (9). The control unit (12) is programmed to receive a detection signal (S1) indicating the position and preferably the dimensions detected and to generate a control signal (S2) of the first and/or second movement means (2, 8).

Described is a roller (2) for the automatic application of at least one adhesive (C) on a sheet (L) for mattresses, which makes it possible to optimise the time needed for processing and the precision of the distribution of adhesive on the sheet in relation to the desired pattern, eliminating the waste of adhesive.

Described is a device (1) for manipulating sheets for a mattress packaging machine (100) comprising at least one supporting device (2, 2a) designed to receive a stack (3) of sheets (4) designed to make a mattress. The supporting device is movable to position a first sheet (4a) at a predetermined and constant gripping position (5), thus forming a sheet being processed (4b). A conveyor (7) is designed to receive the sheet being processed (4b) and to convey it inside the packaging machine (100) at a packaging path selected from a plurality of packaging paths (P1, P2) positioned at different heights. A conveyor (7) is movable between a transfer position (8) wherein it receives the sheet being processed and a plurality of conveying positions (9a, 9b) each positioned at a packaging path. The transfer position (8) is positioned at a height greater than that of the conveying positions (9a, 9b). A transport platform (10) is movable between the gripping position (5) and the transfer position (8) to pick up the sheet being processed (4b) and to make it available for the conveyor (7).

Described is an apparatus for packaging mattresses, comprising a pressing station (2) configured to mechanically compress a mattress (100), a covering station (3) configured to introduce the mattress (100) into an outer case, a winding station (4) to wind the mattress (100) on itself to obtain a substantially cylindrical final profile and a closing station for the final stabilisation of the wound profile adopted by the mattress (100).
