The pusher element is sized and shaped to be displaced proximally to a position proximal to at least a distal portion of the second anchor. The pusher element is sized and shaped to be displaced distally by a second displacement length at least as long as the distance between the second anchor proximal end and a sheath distal end, the second displacement length sufficient to deploy the second anchor.

Various medical devices are disclosed. In various embodiments, a system includes a heart valve and a device that functions to minimize a possibility for suture becoming entangled with a commissure post of the heart valve during an implantation procedure. In some examples, the device is a suture guard that includes one or more features that deflect suture to help minimize entanglement of the same with the commissure posts of the heart valve. In some examples, the features operate to deflect the commissure posts radially inwardly, while in other examples, the features overlay the commissure posts without deflecting that same.

In one embodiment, a method of repairing a heart valve accesses an interior of a patient's beating heart minimally invasively and inserts one or more sutures into each of a plurality of heart valve leaflets with a suturing instrument. The suture ends of the sutures are divided into suture pairs, with each pair including one suture end from a suture inserted into a first valve leaflet and one suture end from a suture inserted into a second valve leaflet. One or more tourniquet tubes is advanced over the suture pairs to the leaflets to draw the sutures together to coapt the leaflets and then the sutures are secured in that position.

Described is a simplified placement system and method for a tissue graft anchor by which a surgeon may introduce one or more sutures into a hole in a boney tissue, apply a precise amount of tension to the sutures to advance the graft to a desired location, and then advance the anchor into the bone, preferably while maintaining the requisite suture tension without introducing spin to the suture. Preferred embodiments allow for one-handed operation. To that end, embodiments in which relative axial movement between the inner tensioning device and outer driver device is optionally physically constrained are described herein. Also disclosed are embodiments that utilize a split suture-capturing loop that allows for the retention of multiple sutures. In other embodiments, the distal end may further include a depth-limiting element that serves to prevent the device from excessively penetrating, damaging or tearing a tissue graft of interest.

The method of fixing soft tissue to bone includes placing an anchor device superficial to a segment of soft tissue superficially juxtaposed to a unicortical blind hole in a bone, the anchor device having a relaxed state characterized by a first outer dimension. The method includes driving the soft tissue segment into the blind hole using the anchor device. The anchor device transiently constricts to a constricted state during insertion through the blind hole, the constricted state characterized by a second outer dimension that is smaller than the first outer dimension. The method includes trapping a portion of the soft tissue segment between a portion of the anchor device and a portion of the bone when at least a portion of the anchor device is disposed sub-cortically and relaxes towards the relaxed state.
