Abstract:
An article includes (a) a glass substrate having a modified surface that comprises a glass surface and a layer of nanoscale inorganic oxide particles disposed in contact with and bound to at least a portion of the glass surface, and (b) a polymer layer disposed in contact with and bound to the modified glass surface. A method for improving the hydrolytic stability of an interface of a glass surface and a polymer surface, includes the step of, prior to forming the interface of the glass surface and the polymer surface, treating at least a portion of the glass surface with nanoscale inorganic oxide particles to modify the glass surface by depositing a quantity of such particles on the portion of the surface.
Abstract:
A garage door is connected to a track extending from a front wall of the garage to a sidewall within the garage. The garage door is horizontally moveable along the track, such as with a chain-driven mechanism, from a generally closed position within the garage vehicle entrance of the garage to a generally open position awayfrom the garage vehicle entrance and disposed adjacent to a sidewall of the garage. A second horizontally moving garage door may be used in conjunction with the first garage door to cooperatively close the garage vehicle entrance.
Abstract:
An anti-settling additive, composition containing the anti-settling additive, and methods for use in coating compositions or formulations. A HASE thickener with improved resistance to surfactants and anti-sag properties, compositions containing the thickener and methods for use of the thickener in coating compositions or formulations and the like. The anti-settling additive and the thickener being a polymer synthesized using a specialized associative monomer that contains C1 -C4 alkyl, propylene oxide, ethylene oxide and a polymerizable group.
Abstract:
An anti-settling additive, compositions containing anti-settling additives and methods for use, the additive containing a monomer or polymer compound that contains at least one polymerizable functional group per molecule, and at least one bicycloheptyl-, bicycloheptenyl-, or branched (C 5 -C 42 )alkyl- polyether radical per molecule, wherein the bicycloheptyl- or bicycloheptenyl- polyether radical may optionally be substituted on one or more of the ring carbon atoms by one or two (C 1 -C 6 )alkyl groups per ring carbon atom is useful in making polymers.
Abstract:
Disclosed are single-sided stretch cling films having a cling layer, a release layer, and a core layer. The core layer is located between the cling layer and the release layer. The cling layer includes a blend of an olefin block copolymer and an ethylene-based polymer. The present films exhibit improved cling force compared to using a random ethylene copolymer in the cling layer.
Abstract:
Disclosed are latex polymers and an aqueous coating compositions having excellent freeze-thaw stability, open time, stain resistance, low temperature film formation, foam resistance, block resistance, adhesion, water sensitivity and a low-vac content. The latex polymer and aqueous coating compositions include a latex polymer derived from a monomer copolymerized or blended with an alkoxylated compound, for example an alkoxylated tristyrytphenol or an alkoxylated tributylphenol. Also provided is an aqueous coating composition including at least one latex polymer, at least one pigment, water and at least one freeze-thaw additive. Typically, the freeze-thaw additive is added in an amount greater than about 1.3%, 2%, 4%, 75%, 10% or 20% by weight of the polymer.
Abstract:
An environmentally-friendly cleaning composition for industrial and consumer applications comprising (a) a blend of dibasic esters, (b) one or more surfactants (c) and, optionally, (d) water or a solvent. The dibasic esters are be derived from a blend of adipic, glutaric, and succinic diacids, and, in one particular embodiment, the blend comprises dialkyl adipate, dialkyl methylglutarate and dialkyl ethylsuccinate, wherein the alkyl groups individually comprise a C 1 -C 12 hydrocarbon group. The one or more surfactants are typically chosen from alcohol alkoxylate, an alkyl phenol ethoxylate, a terpene, a terpene alkoxylate or any derivates thereof. Optionally, additional components or additives including delaminates such as pinene and d- limonene, fragrances, whiteners, stabilizers, thickeners and the like can be added to the composition. The industrial or consumer application selected from the group consisting of a graffiti cleaner, a painted-substrate cleaner, an ink cleaner, a metal substrate cleaner, a plastic substrate cleaner, an environmentally friendly cleaner, a stain-spot cleaner, an industrial hand cleaner, a resin cleaner, a tar resin cleaner, a textile cleaner, a paint stripper and any combination thereof.
