A thermoplastic polymer composition comprises a cyanophenyl endcapped polycarbonate, a potassium diphenyl sulphon-3-sulphonate; and brominated polycarbonate. In some embodiments, when the thermoplastic polymer composition is in the form of a 3 mm thick extruded sheet, the sheet has a smoke density of less than 200 at an exposure period of 240 seconds in accordance with the smoke density test as set forth in ASTM E662-06, and has no burning drips on the sheet for a duration of 10 minutes in accordance with the flammability test as set forth in NF-P-92-505.

Wherein R 1 and R 2 are independently at each occurrence a C 1 -C 4 alkyl, n and p are each an integer having a value of 1 to 4, and T is selected from the group consisting of C 5 -C 10 cycloalkanes attached to the aryl groups at one or two carbons, C 1 -C 5 alkyl groups, C 6 -C 13 aryl groups, and C 7 -C 12 aryl alkyl groups; a polycarbonate- polysiloxane copolymer; an impact modifier; and a flame retardant. The compositions have excellent chemical resistance as well as an improved balance of physical properties such as impact strength and spiral flow, while at the same time maintaining their good flame performance.

The polymeric binder is selected from a fluoropolymer or silicone polymer having one or more reactive groups. The film forming lubricant is a lubricous fluoropolymer or silicone polymer. Methods of applying a durable coating are also disclosed.

A flame retardant thermoplastic composition having excellent physical properties that includes 20 to 90 wt.% of a polycarbonate resin; from 1 to 35 wt.% of an impact modifier; from 0.5 to 30 wt.% of a polysiloxane-polycarbonate copolymer including from 8 to 30 wt.% polydimethylsiloxane units or the equivalent molar amount of other diorganosiloxane units; from 0.5 to 20 wt.% of a phosphorus-containing flame retardant, and from 3 to 30 wt.% of metal fiber, each based on the total combined weight of the thermoplastic composition, exclusive of any filler. In one embodiment, a molded sample of the thermoplastic composition having a thickness of 3.0 mm (+ 10%) has an EMI shielding of at least 20 dB. In addition, a molded sample of the thermoplastic composition is capable of achieving UL94 VO or Vl rating at a thickness of 1.5 mm (+ 10%). The compositions are useful in forming flame retardant articles having EMI shielding characteristics.

Disclosed herein is a thermoplastic composition comprising: a polycarbonate; an impact modifier; a polycarbonate-polysiloxane copolymer; a poly(arylene ether)-polysiloxane copolymer; and an organophosphate in an amount of 2 to 20 weight percent based on the combined weight of polycarbonate, impact modifier, polycarbonate-polysiloxane copolymer, and poly(arylene ether)-polysiloxane copolymer, wherein the composition has a notched Izod impact strength of greater than or equal to 4 kilojoules per square meter (kJ/m 2 ) as determined according to ISO 180/A, a melt viscosity rate of less than or equal to 130 Pascal seconds (Pa.s) as determined according to ISO11443 at 1500 s -1 and 280°C, and a UL94 rating of V1 or better at 0.8 millimeter thickness.
