The movable core (46) is movable relative to the coil (50) along the central longitudinal axis (96) such that the coil segment (100) is movable within the passageway of the coil (50) along the central longitudinal axis (96). A permanent magnet (54) extends around at least a portion of the radially outer surface (103) of the magnet segment (102) of the movable core (46). The movable core (46) is movable along the central longitudinal axis (96) relative to the permanent magnet (54).

A coil (12) is provided which, when energized generates a force. A magnet (9) is also provided, the magnet (9) having a magnetic force. The forces of the coil (12) and magnet (9) attract the at least one movable contact (3) to the at least one first contact (4). A return spring (8) having a spring force cooperates with the at least one movable contact (3) to return the at least one movable contact (3) to the at least one second contact (1) when the coil (12) is not energized. The sum of the forces applied by the coil (12) and the magnet (9) are sufficient to overcome the spring force of the return spring (8) to provide a balanced force to both the at least one second contact (1) and the at least one first contact (4).

Wire retention springs (220) are received in the housing each having at least one spring arm (224) defining a wire trap (292) with the corresponding wire contact. The spring arms are releasable to release the wires from the housing.

The cable extends across the bus bars and is electrically connected to each of the bus bars. The cable includes plural electrical conductors (162) and a dielectric insulator (164) that surrounds and electrically isolates the conductors. The conductors include exposed segments (166) exposed through the dielectric insulator that are electrically connected to corresponding bus bars via a bonding layer applied between the exposed segment and the corresponding bus bar.

    摘要: A switch assembly adapted and a method for switching power to a circuit having a power source. The switch assembly includes current carrying contacts and a coupling member. The coupling member has conductive pads for engaging the current carrying contacts and a contact bridge extending between the conductive pads. An actuator assembly moves the coupling member between a closed position in which the conductive pads of the coupling member engage the current carrying contacts and an open position in which the conductive pads of the coupling member are disengaged from the current carrying contacts. Opposing electromagnetic forces are generated between the contact bridge and the conductive pads to resist electromagnetic repulsion forces generated between the current carrying contacts and the conductive pads as the actuator assembly approaches or is in the closed position.
