Abstract: A relay control circuit for use with a relay having a coil voltage input. The relay control circuit includes a first input to receive a first voltage capable of energizing the relay from a de-energized state, a second input to receive a second voltage, less than the first voltage, that is capable of maintaining the relay in an energized state, and means, responsive to a relay control signal having one of a first state and a second state, for switchably coupling the coil voltage input to the first input for a period of time sufficient to energize the relay in response to the relay control signal having the first state, and for switchably coupling the coil voltage input to the second input in response to expiration of the period of time.

Abstract: A switch assembly adapted and a method for switching power to a circuit having a power source. The switch assembly includes current carrying contacts and a coupling member. The coupling member has conductive pads for engaging the current carrying contacts and a contact bridge extending between the conductive pads. An actuator assembly moves the coupling member between a closed position in which the conductive pads of the coupling member engage the current carrying contacts and an open position in which the conductive pads of the coupling member are disengaged from the current carrying contacts. Opposing electromagnetic forces are generated between the contact bridge and the conductive pads to resist electromagnetic repulsion forces generated between the current carrying contacts and the conductive pads as the actuator assembly approaches or is in the closed position.

Abstract: A contactor (5) includes a contact portion (501-504) and an actuation portion (505-508). The contactor further includes a keeping portion. The keeping portion includes a capacitor structure and uses an electrostatic force between opposite plates (509,510) of the capacitor structure to keep the contact portion in a contact state or a disconnection state. The electrostatic force generated by an electrostatic latch is used to keep the contactor in a switched-to static state. The contactor has reduced energy consumption in the static state, is convenient to manufacture, and has a low cost.
