Abstract:
Dispensing apparatus (1) comprising a housing having an outlet (4) through which, in use, a product can be dispensed from a dispensing container received in an interior of said housing, wherein the interior of the housing is formed from a first part (2) and a second part (3) which are movable from an open position to permit insertion of a dispensing container (100) into the interior of the housing to a closed position in which removal of a dispensing container (100) from the interior of the housing is prevented, the dispensing apparatus (100) further comprising a locking member (36-67) mounted to, and movable into and out of engagement with the second part (3) to lock the first (2) and second (3) parts together in the closed position, wherein the locking member (63-67) is moved by a motor (70).
Abstract:
An injection device of the kind having a main housing (4) is disclosed and includes a drive mechanism (42) to expel selectively a dose of medicament from a medicament cartridge (40) through a needle unit (22) and an electronic control unit to control the drive mechanism (42). The injection device further comprises a prime button (26) which causes a prime signal to be sent to the electronic control unit, the electronic control unit actuating the drive mechanism (42) to expel a predetermined small dose of medicament on receipt of the prime signal. In this way removal of entrapped air from the medicament cartridge (40) is obtained.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a medicament delivery device such as a pen type injector used to expel medicament from a medicament cartridge under the action of a lead screw. The medicament cartridge typically comprises a cylinder having a displaceable piston at one end displacement causing medicament contained within the cartridge to be expelled. It is of advantage to know when the plunger contacts the displaceable piston since no delivery of medicament can occur before this point. A delivery device is disclosed in which a lead screw (2) for a medicament delivery device comprises a shaft portion (8) and a head portion (10), the head portion (10) further comprising a fixed part (18), a displaceable part (20) movable with respect to the fixed part, biasing means acting normally to urge the displaceable part (20) away from the fixed part (18) and a sensor (40) to detect when the displaceable part moves towards the fixed part, one of the fixed part and the displaceable part being provided with a plurality of resilient fingers (22) extending axially with respect to the lead screw, and the other of the fixed part and the displaceable part being provided with a plurality of openings (32), each of the resilient fingers extending within a corresponding opening.
Abstract:
Dispensing apparatus comprising a housing having a first part (2) and a second part (3) together defining an interior of the housing for receiving a dispensing container, the first and second part being movable from an open position to permit insertion of said dispensing container into the interior of the housing to a closed position in which removal of said dispensing container from the interior of the housing is prevented, the dispensing apparatus further comprising a mouthpiece (4) which is removably connectable to the housing, wherein when connected to the housing the mouthpiece defines an outlet for a product dispensed, in use, from said dispensing container, and wherein when the mouthpiece is disconnected from the housing the first and second parts substantially enclose the interior to prevent access to and removal of said dispensing container received in the interior.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a medicament delivery device for self-administration of a medicament. Known devices include a replaceable medicament cartridge within a main housing, the medicament cartridge being replaceable to facilitate reuse of the injector. However, those using such devices are often infirm or have impaired vision. There is a demand for a medicament delivery device in which medicament cartridge can be easily removed from the medicament delivery device and equally easily replaced with a replacement medicament cartridge. A medicament delivery device is disclosed comprising a housing, a cartridge retainer having a bore for receiving a medicament cartridge, the cartridge retainer being adapted for pivoting movement between an open position angularly displaced from the housing and a closed position adjacent the housing, a drive means, in use, operating within the cartridge retainer to cause medicament to be expelled from a medicament cartridge and a latch for releasable retaining the cartridge retainer in the closed position.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a medicament injection apparatus, particularly suitable for use by those with diabetes in which, in use, once a desired dosage of medicament has been selected and expelled from the medicament cartridge into the body of the patient, the injected medicament is allowed to disperse locally from the injection site within the patient's body before the needle arrangement is removed from the patient's body. It is considered to be a problem that in known medicament injection devices the injection interval, that is the time elapsed since a previous injection, is measured following completion of a delivery stroke rather than from dispersion of the injected medicament. A medicament injection device is disclosed in which the time elapsed following an injection operation is calculated from the end of a predetermined period during which medicament is permitted to disperse subsequent to completion of an injection stroke.
Abstract:
An applicator unit (3) for use in applying a substance to a surface, the applicator unit comprising: a body unit (15) to which a pressurizable container (5) is in use attached; and an outlet unit (17) which includes an applicator element (89) to which substance is dispensed and a valve member (93) which is movably disposed relative to the applicator element between a first, closed configuration in which the outlet unit (17) is closed and a second, open configuration in which the outlet unit (17) is opened such as to establish a communication path between the container (5) and the applicator element (89), wherein the valve member (93) is configured to be moved to the open configuration on pressurisation of the container (5), thereby providing for dispensing of substance to the applicator element (89).
