A fluid supply warning and communication system including fluid tight engagements being made with tubing having at least one connector end chosen from a universal connector, a twist-on nipple, and a v-shaped end. A gas supply warning and communication system including a first upstream gas path, a second upstream gas path, and a downstream gas path made with tubing having at least one connector end chosen from a universal connector, a twist-on nipple, and a v-shaped end. A method of increasing humidity in a downstream gas path in the gas supply warning and communication system by flowing gas through a downstream gas path tubing that increases humidity to an end use appliance.

Carpule systems and methods of making and using the same are disclosed, hi one embodiment, a carpule system includes a carpule having a carpule body that defines a first chamber and a second chamber. A divider can be disposed between the first and second chambers for isolating a first material in the first chamber from a second material in the second chamber. The carpule system, may also include a carpule mixing device that displaces a portion of the divider for mixing the first and second materials to form a mixture and a carpule syringe that dispenses an amount of the mixture. The amount of the mixture being dispensed is measured via an audible sound and/or a tactile sensation provided by the carpule syringe. Systems and methods herein advantageously obviate the need for mixing powdered material via multiple syringes, reduce waste and cost, and improve the accuracy of administering pharmaceutical compositions.

A reusable patient-controlled injector having a drive system controls a drug injection rate from a drug injector. A rack and pinion assembly having a rack (70,74) longitudinal axis is disposed in the injector drive-system housing (12) having a housing longitudinal axis parallel to the rack (70,74) longitudinal axis. A drug-injector mount (16) configured to receive the drug injector is fixedly disposed in the injector drive-system housing adjacent to the rack and pinion assembly. A carriage (60) coupled to the rack and pinion assembly is driven in translation parallel to the rack (70,74) longitudinal axis by an electric motor (62) and is configured to engage and move a drug-injector piston when the drug injector is in the drug-injector mount. An electrical control system is in communication with the electric motor and has a movable, patient-accessible injection-rate control actuator. The drug injection rate varies proportional to the movement of the injection-rate control button.
