Abstract:
The invention concerns hydroxyl group-containing copolymerizates with an OH number of 50 to 200 mg KOH/g and a mean molecular weight (numerically) of 1500 to 6000, which can be produced by radical solution polymerization at temperatures of 130 to 200°C from 5 to 25 wt.% of vinyl ester monomers, 10 to 50 wt.% of vinyl aromatic monomers, 10 to 50 wt.% of hydroxyalkyl ester monomers and possibly other monomers. The vinyl ester monomer is taken and the other monomers are added within a monomer addition time-interval equal for all monomers, as follows: i) the quantity of acrylate monomers added per unit time is constant; ii) the quantity of vinyl aromatic monomer added during the first third of the monomer addition time-interval is equal to 15 to 30 wt.%, preferably 18 to 26 wt.%, in the second third 25 to 40 wt.%, preferably 30 to 38 wt.%, and in the third third 35 to 60 wt.%, preferably 40 to 50 wt.%, referred to the total amount of vinyl aromatic monomer. Also described are processes for producing the copolymerizates and their use in coating agents.
Abstract:
The polycondensation and/or addition product described is obtained by the reaction of a) polycarbonic acids or their anhydrides, possibly jointly with monocarboxylic acids, b) polyols, possibly jointly with monools, and possibly c) other modifying constituents and possibly d) a reactive constituent with the reaction product obtained from a), b) and possibly c), provided that the final product contains tertiary amino groups from the constituent a) and/or b) and/or d) and that the reaction product obtained from a), b) and possibly c) and if necessary d) has an acidity index of between 5 and 200, preferably between 10 and 130, and an amine index of between 3 and 150, preferably between 10 and 100. The invention also concerns processes for manufacturing the polycondensation and/or addition product as well as a coating agent based on said product, processes for the manufacture of the coating agent and their use for painting bodywork in motorcar repair and as a finishing paint, filler, clear varnish, primer or base coat.
Abstract:
The object of the present invention is a coating material curing at low temperatures of below 120 DEG C, containing: A) one or more carboxyl group-containing polymers with a number average molecular weight of 500 to 8000 and an acid number of 15 to 200 mg KOH/g as essential binder components; B) one or more epoxide group-containing compounds as cross-linking agents; and C) one or more organic solvents; This coating material is characterized in that the epoxide group-containing compound (B) can be produced from: 1. a biuret and/or isocyanate and/or urethane group-containing di and/or polyisocyanate compound and glycidyl alcohol of formula (I) in which R is an alkylene radical with 1 to 10 C atoms and R1 is H, a methyl or ethyl group, and/or: 2. a di and/or polyisicyanate and allyl alcohol followed by epoxiding the double bonds. The present invention also concerns a process for producing this coating agent and its use in car repair painting.
Abstract:
Coating composition containing an organic solvent, a mixture of a polyhydroxy component (A) and a polyisocyanate component (B) as well as a compound extending its pot life. The polyhydroxy component has an acid index of between 5 and 25 mg KOH/g and the pot life-extending compound is a mixture consisting of 0.1 to 4.0 % by weight, in relation to the total weight of the coating composition, of a compound with a tertiary amino group or an amide group (C) and 1 to 15 % by weight, in relation to the total weight of (A) and (B), of a tertiary monoalcohol. The tertiary alcohols exclude 2-methyl-2-propanol and 2-methyl-2-butanol. Also described is the use of coating compositions, in particular for paintwork in car repairs.
Abstract:
A coating agent contains (A) a component containing carboxylic and tertiary amino groups and a polyepoxy resin (B). (A) consists of 10 to 90 wt.% of a polyacrylate (A1) containing carboxylic and amino groups and having an acid value between 20 and 140 and an amin value between 5 and 60, and between 90 and 10 wt.% of a polyester (A2) containing carboxylic and amino groups and having an acid value between 10 and 160 and an amin value between 3 and 90. (A2) is obtained by converting: a) polycarboxylic acids or their anhydrides, possibly together with monocarboxylic acids, b) polyols, possibly together with monools, and c) other modifier components and possibly d) a component capable of reacting with the reaction product of a), b) and possibly c), provided that the final product contains tertiary amino groups derived from the components a) and/or b) and/or d), the sum of the components (A1) and (A2) being equal to 100 wt.%.
