Abstract: The present application relates to compostable articles and compositions including at least one biodegradable polymer and a hydrophobic agent. In some embodiments, the compostable articles and compositions include a second biodegradable polymer, different from the first biodegradable polymer. In some embodiments, the first biodegradable polymer is selected from the group consisting of polyethylene succinate) (PES), poly(trimethylene succinate) (PTS), poly(butylene succinate) (PBS), poly(butylene succinate co-butylene adipate) (PBS A), poly (butylene adipate co-terephthalate) (PBAT), poly(tetramethylene adipate-co-terephthalate) (PTAT), and thermoplastic starch. In some embodiments, the presently described articles include packaging.

Abstract: Containers (100), for example boxes, envelopes, mailers, and the like containing one or more deployable cushioning sheets (1500) are disclosed. The deployable cushioning sheets (1500) are connected to at least one wall of the containers (100) and can be deployed to be partially outside of the container for cushioning, for example by wrapping, an object (1600) to be packaged. The deployable cushioning sheets (1500) can contain, for example, paper, cardboard, foam, bubble film, or the like, or they can contain combinations of different types of materials. The containers (100) are useful in methods of packaging, storing, and shipping, among other uses.

Abstract: Branched amorphous polyamide (co)polymers having a backbone formed by reacting a reaction mixture including at least 25 mol% of a di-amine selected from a secondary di-amine, a branched di-amine, or a combination thereof; and an aliphatic acid blend including a branched aliphatic dimer acid and a branched aliphatic trimer acid. The molar equivalent ratio of the di¬ amine to the aliphatic acid blend is 0.9-1.1. Preferably, the branched amorphous polyamide (co)polymer is not telechelic. The branched amorphous polyamide (co)polymer preferably exhibits one or more of a shear modulus of from 10,000 to 500,000 Pa at 70°C, a complex viscosity of greater than 1,000,000 mPa*s at 70°C, a glass transition temperature of less than 25°C, or a number average molecular weight of greater than 10,000 Da. Biodegradable and/or compostable adhesive articles including the branched amorphous polyamide (co)polymer also are disclosed.

Abstract: Fiber tows including a heat-activatable sizing are described. The sizing compositions have a first modulus at 25 °C of at least 150 megapascals (MPa) and no greater than 400 MPa; and a second modulus of 100,000 pascals (Pa) at a temperature of no greater than 160 °C. Methods of preparing articles from such sized fiber tows and the articles comprising such sized fiber tows, including unidirectional and bidirectional constructions are also described.
