A curable composition includes a first part comprising an epoxy resin; and a second part comprising a multifunctional, functional thiol containing compound. The curable composition further includes an inorganic filler present in an amount of at least 20 weight %, based on the total weight of the curable composition. The multifunctional, functional thiol containing compound comprises an ether in the backbone thereof.

A curable, one-part, dual-stage thiol-ene-epoxy liquid adhesive composition, articles, and methods, wherein the composition includes: an epoxy resin component comprising an epoxy resin having at least two epoxide groups per molecule; a thiol component comprising a polythiol compound having at least two thiol groups; a nitrogen-containing catalyst for the epoxy resin; a barbituric acid derivative soluble in the thiol-cpoxy component of the thiol-ene-epoxy adhesive composition; a non-(meth)acrylate ethylenically unsaturated compound; and a photoinitiator; wherein the nitrogen-containing catalyst is insoluble in the ethylenically unsaturated compound and the polythiol compound separately.

The present invention relates to an epoxy adhesive composition, comprising: a) 10-50 parts by weight of a bisphenol A epoxy resin, a bisphenol F epoxy resin, or a combination of a bisphenol A epoxy resin and a bisphenol F epoxy resin, wherein the epoxy equivalent weight thereof is 150-250 g/Eq; b) 20-50 parts by weight of a dihydroxy phenol glycidyl ether epoxy resin having an epoxy equivalent weight of 100-150 g/Eq; c) 1-5 parts by weight of a silane coupling agent; d) 20-60 parts by weight of a polyetheramine curing agent; e) 10-40 parts by weight of a filler; and f) 0-10 parts by weight of an imidazole accelerator. The epoxy adhesive composition provided by the present invention has a good workability and curing process operability. In addition, an epoxy adhesive prepared from the epoxy adhesive composition has a good peel strength on a plastic surface and good resistance to water vapor permeation.

The present disclosure provides a polymeric material including a polymerized reaction product of a polymerizable composition including components and an inorganic filler. The components include a uretdione-containing material including a reaction product of a diisocyanate reacted with itself; a first hydroxyl-containing compound; and an optional second hydroxyl-containing compound having a single OH group. The present disclosure also provides a two-part composition, in which the polymeric material is included in the first part and the second part includes at least one amine. Further, a method of adhering two substrates is provided, including obtaining a two-part composition; combining at least a portion of the first part with at least a portion of the second part to form a mixture; disposing at least a portion of the mixture on a first substrate; and contacting a second substrate with the mixture disposed on the first substrate. The disclosure also provides a polymerized product of the two-part composition and a battery module. Advantageously, two-part compositions can be used as coatings and adhesive systems including high loadings of inorganic filler, such as thermally conductive filler, with handling and performance similar to existing two-part urethane systems, but with less sensitivity to water.

The present disclosure provides a polymeric material including a polymerized reaction product of a polymerizable composition including components and has a solids content of 90% or greater. The components include a uretdione-containing material including a reaction product of a diisocyanate reacted with itself; a first hydroxyl-containing compound; an optional second hydroxyl-containing compound having a single OH group, wherein; and an epoxy component. The epoxy component is present in an amount of 35% by weight or greater, based on the total weight of the polymerizable composition. The first hydroxyl-containing compound has more than one OH group and the optional second hydroxyl-containing compound is a primary alcohol or a secondary alcohol. The present disclosure also provides a two-part composition, in which the polymeric material is included in the first part and the second part includes at least one amine. Further, a method of adhering two substrates is provided, including obtaining a two-part composition; combining at least a portion of the first part with at least a portion of the second part to form a mixture; disposing at least a portion of the mixture on a first substrate; and contacting a second substrate with the mixture disposed on the first substrate. The disclosure also provides a polymeric material and a method of making a two-part composition. Advantageously, two-part compositions can be used as coatings and adhesive systems with handling and performance similar to existing two-part urethane systems, but with less sensitivity to water, or with performance similar to toughened epoxy systems.

A two-part bonding composition includes parts A and B. Part A includes an organoborane-base complex and reactive diluent. Reactive diluent includes: triallyl isocyanurate; triallyl cyanurate; N- allylamide having the formula R 1 C(=0)N(R 2 )CH 2 CH=CH 2 , wherein R 1 and R 2 independently represent alkyl groups having from 1 to 7 carbon atoms, optionally interrupted up to 3 times by oxygen, and optionally substituted up to 2 times with hydroxyl groups, or taken together R 1 and R 2 represent - (CH 2 ) 3 -, -(CH 2 ) 4 -, or -(CH 2 ) 5 -; and/or allyl ether having the formula R 3 [OCH 2 CH=CH 2 ]n wherein R 3 represents an n-valent hydrocarbonaceous group having from 1 to 24 carbon atoms, optionally interrupted up to 8 times by oxygen, and optionally substituted up to 6 times with hydroxyl groups, and n represents 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6. Part B includes free-radically polymerizable monomer and at least one compound capable of decomplexing the organoborane-base complex. A method combining Parts A and B is also disclosed.
