Abstract: Novel Zr-based metal-organic framework (MOF) chemosensors useful for detection, recognition, removal, and separation of heavy metals are provided. Also provided are methods for preparation of the chemosensors and processes for detection, recognition, removal, and separation of heavy metals using the chemosensors.
