Abstract: A power system (12) has a power source (16) having a rotary output member (24). The power system may also include an electric machine (18) having a rotor (30) and a stator (26). The rotor of the electric machine may be drivingly connected to the rotary output member of the power source. Additionally, the power system may include a sensor (32) configured to provide a signal relating to at least one of a position of the rotor and a speed of the rotor. The power system may also include power-system controls (22) configured to control electric current supply to the stator dependent upon the signal and control the power source dependent upon the signal.

Abstract: An electric drivetrain (10) for a mobile machine (18) is disclosed. The electric drivetrain has at least one power consuming device (36-40), a sensor (54-58) associated with the at least one power consuming device, and a controller (62) in communication with the power consuming device and the sensor. The sensor is configured to generate a signal indicative of a temperature of the power consuming device. The controller is configured to limit a power consumption level of the at least one power consuming device to an amount corresponding to a value of the signal.

The method also includes directing power into a power source (34) and reducing a supply of fuel to the power source while directing power into the power source. The method further includes basing a first threshold speed on a speed of the power source produced by directing power into the power source and increasing the supply of fuel to the power source when the speed of the power source falls below the first threshold speed.
