Abstract: The present disclosure relates to apparatus and methods for cutting a hollow turning vane to a desired length for use in a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system. The vane cutting apparatus disclosed herein utilizes a pneumatically powered cutting mechanism that allows for a smaller apparatus footprint with no loss of cutting force and results in the single stepped blade rolling the inside edges of the hollow turning vane during cutting. The rolled inside edges provide a more secure and smoother fit when the hollow turning vane is fastened to the mating vane rail for use in an HVAC duct.

Abstract: A locking apparatus for securing a turning vane to a duct rail is disclosed. The locking apparatus includes an elongate body defining a longitudinal axis and a working end including a first end portion, a second end portion, and an arcuate portion extending between the first end portion and the second end portion. The first end portion, second end portion, and arcuate portion together define a concavity that is configured for the reception of a portion of the turning vane therein. The arcuate portion is configured for engagement against the portion of the turning vane to roll the portion of the turning vane over a portion of the duct rail. The rolling of the portion of the turning vane over the portion of the duct rail is configured to secure the turning vane to the duct rail.

Abstract: The modular pin spotting system described herein allows a common welding source to be utilized with both hand held pinspotters and fixed pinspotters. This allows the operator to choose the mode of operation for the welding source based on operator needs. In some aspects, the pin spotting system includes a mobile welding source, a ground handpiece, a handheld pinspotter apparatus, and a fixed pinspotter apparatus. The welding source is removably attachable to either of the hand held pinspotter apparatus and fixed pinspotter apparatus and configured to supply welding energy to the attached pinspotter apparatus. Each of the hand held and fixed pinspotter apparatus are configured to energize the mobile welding source to supply welding energy to a weld pin positioned against a sheet metal surface to affix the weld pin to the sheet metal surface through welding.
