    Abstract: An apparatus for driving an electro-optic display may comprise spaced first and second device layers, and a first and second rows of display pixels, each row may include a plurality of display pixels, each display pixel having a pixel electrode positioned on the first device layer for driving the display pixel, a conduction line positioned on the second device layer and overlapping with a portion of the plurality of display pixels' pixel electrodes, and at least one conductive path connecting the conduction line of the first row to a conduction line of the second row of display pixels.

    Abstract: A driving method an electro-optic display having a plurality of display pixels, the method include applying a first set of waveform to a first display pixel, the first set of waveform having at least one active portion configured to affect the optical state of the first display pixel and at least one non-active portion configured not to substantially affect the optical state of the first display pixel. The method also include applying a second set of waveform to a second display pixel, the second set of waveform having at least one active portion configured to affect the optical state of the second display pixel and at least one non-active portion configured not to substantially affect the optical state of the second display pixel, where the at least one active portions of the first and second set of waveforms do not overlap in time.

    Abstract: A backplane for an electro-optic display that includes a data line, a transistor, a pixel electrode connected to the data line via the transistor, the pixel electrode positioned adjacent to part of the data line so as to create a data line/pixel electrode capacitance. The backplane further including a shield electrode disposed adjacent to at least part of the data line so as to reduce the data line/pixel electrode capacitance.
