Abstract: The invention relates to a bearing assembly including safety bushing and to the insertion method. The bearing assembly of the invention is of the type comprising two pre-assembled conical-roller bearing units that can be replaced on the wheel hub of commercial vehicles, each unit including an exterior ring and an interior ring and incorporating, between said rings, a plurality of conical rollers in a cage and an identifier box that secures the exterior ring. The bearing assembly is characterized in that it comprises a safety bushing of dimensions equivalent to the dimensions of the pre-assembled unit, which bushing is inserted between the exterior and interior rings, thereby creating a compact assembly that can be used as a tool for mounting the pre-assembled units on the hub and as a tool for mounting retainers in a cavity formed between the interior ring and the hub. In addition, one of the pre-assembled units also includes a hermetic seal, mounted using a four-stage process.
