Abstract:
Device for treating pathological conditions of skin surfaces, which comprises a main component that includes a body and a contact layer superimposed to one another, wherein the body is porous to provide storage capacity for liquid medicament fed to it and permeable for transmitting the medicament to the contact layer by compression or capillarity or both. The contact layer is also porous for transmitting the medicament received from the body to the skin surface being treated and has a mildly or strongly abrasive outer surface for removing damaged surface skin tissue. The device also comprises a delivery apparatus for feeding liquid medicament to the body of the main component and, an optional storage container for the liquid medicament.
Abstract:
Method of holding in place a transcutaneous implant by applying an adhesive in liquid form to the implant and the area of the patient's skin about the needle and allowing the adhesive to set. The implant is constituted by an infusion needle, a catheter or any transcutaneous implant. Whenever the adhesive is in liquid form, it has such a surface tension that it will flow along the implant and the skin to reach a terminal point, which is the point at which the implant is inserted. The adhesive is applied in liquid form and flows along the implant and the skin to reach the point at which the implant is inserted, and then allowed to set, to hold the implant in place.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a wound dressing and methods of preparation and use thereof for promoting healing of a wound bed. In particular, the wound dressing is advantageous for application to a debrided wound bed. The wound dressing comprises an open conduit polymeric foam matrix, and a hydrophilic polymer which is disposed in dry form on the inner surfaces of the conduits within the matrix.
Abstract:
A device, system and method for enhancing the functionality and efficiency of a chemical and/or enzymatic debriding agent with a physical debriding mechanism. The debriding agent alone and the physical mechanism alone are each capable of at least some debriding activity separately, without being used in the combination. In combination, however, they are more effective, such that the debriding efficacy is increased for the combination. Preferably, the physical debriding mechanism comprises an ultrasound source.
Abstract:
A method of harvesting a tissue sample (318) from a subject (311), comprising: attaching an outer surface of a portion of the tissue sample (318) to a substantially flat surface area; lifting the surface area, together with the portion of the tissue (318); and slicing the tissue (318) at a given distance below the surface area of said portion to separate the portion to separate the tissue portion (318) from the subject (311).

Abstract:
A micro-organ structure comprising at least two micro-organ portions formed from a tissue, in which said at least two micro-organs are linked one to the other by means of a junction formed from said tissue of which the micro-organs were formed therefrom.
Abstract:
A micro-organ processing system, comprising: a plurality of operational modules, each said module performing all or part of a process of producing said micro-organ from a tissue sample; and means for transferring the tissue sample or micro-organ from one module to a next module in the process, via ports in the modules, without removal of the tissue sample from the modules.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a proteolytic extract obtained from bromelain for the treatment of connective tissue diseases. In particular, the present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition comprising a proteolytic extract obtained from bromelain for the treatment of diseases such as Dupuytren's disease and Peyronie's disease.
Abstract:
The invention relates to compositions for debriding damaged skin comprising at least one enzymatic debriding agent and at least one antiseptic compound comprising heavy metal ions. The present invention further relates to kit and methods for topical debridement of damaged skin, particularly of burned skin.
