    摘要: A medical device in the form of a tool (11) for removing necrotic tissue from a wound or for cutting or both. The tool (11) includes an elongated handle (13) and a tool head (15). The handle (13) has a distal end (13a), a proximal end (13b) and defines a central longitudinal axis (13c) extending between the ends. The tool head (15) is of substantially elliptical form having a major axis (15a) and is connected to the proximal end (13b) of the handle so that the major axis (15a) of the tool head is offset relative to the longitudinal axis (13c) of the handle. The tool head (15) has a convex face (17a) on one side, a concave face (17b) that is disposed complementary to the convex face on the other side of the tool and a serrated edge (19) disposed at the end of the tool head, distal from the proximal end (13b) of the handle (11). The serrated edge (19) extends transversely of the longitudinal axis (13c) of the handle, and the tool head (15) defines bifurcated peripheral edges (21a and 21b) extends convexly from either end of the serrated edge (19) to the proximal end of the handle. In one embodiment, the serrated edge (19) and peripheral edges (21) of the tool head (15) are sufficiently pointed to facilitate loosening and scraping of eschars and removal of necrotic tissue from a wound but sufficiently blunt to substantially prevent cutting of surrounding healthy tissue. In another embodiment the operating edge of the peripheral edges and the serrated edge of the tool head are sufficiently pointed to provide cutting of tissue.

    摘要: A minimally invasive tissue incision system for creating joint capsulotomies and releasing/incising various tendon and fibrous band structures. The system contains a penetrating needle which is retractable so as to expose a cutting element, and which may be used as a penetrating needle to pierce the skin and other soft tissue structures. The cutting element provided within the penetrating needle may be used to incise subsequent tissue structures after the initial penetration. The system facilitates such procedures by providing the cutting element with the confines of the needle which provides safe introduction of the cutting element directly to the site via the needle.

The diagnosis and removal of devitalized and/or dead cell material may be performed at desired intervals. Patients that suffer from conditions that block meibomian gland orifices, partial, infrequent, or inhibited blinking resulting in reduced lipid secretions from meibomian glands, and/or blockages in meibomian gland channels reducing secretion of lipids through the meibomian gland orifices may require more frequent diagnosis and treatment to remove devitalized and/or dead cell material.
