An object of the present invention is an assembly (22) comprising: - at least one bobbin support device (9); - said at least one bobbin support device 9 comprising at least one bobbin support pole (10) to support at least one bobbin of web and/or wire material (16); - said bobbin (16) comprising a support element for supporting the web or wire material, or bobbin core (17), internally hollow and delimited by an inner core surface ( 19 ). - said bobbin (16) being suitable to be fitted on said at least one bobbin support pole (9); wherein said assembly further comprises - a pick and place device (8); - said pick and place device (8) comprising a pick and place device wrist (15), defining a wrist axis (7 or D); - said assembly further comprises at least one pick and place gripper (6) supported by said wrist (15); - said at least one pick and place gripper (6) comprises at least two pick and place fingers (14), movable away from each other or approaching a pick and place axis (20) to grip said inner core surface (19) and pick up at least one bobbin (16); wherein - said pick and place axis (20) is spaced from said wrist axis (7 or D) by a predefined gripper distance (21).

A smoking article, for example a "heat-not-burn" article made of tobacco-based material, or a filter made of paper, plastic or other suitable material, is obtained by assembling at least one web (2) so as to give it a rod shape (6) after the web has been divided into a plurality of interconnected strips (32). In a first solution, discontinuous cuts are made (3) in the web, in the form of a series of perforations (303) spaced apart, so as to define in the web a plurality of interconnected strips (32). In a second solution, cuts are made in the strip that define a plurality of strips, using cutting tools adapted to give the aforesaid strips knurls and/or corrugations, resulting in interlacing between the strips.

A device for discharging particulate material, for example powder material, granules or capsules, or in general free-flowing material, such as adhesive material, on a substrate (S) moving along a conveying direction (A), comprises at least one drum rotor (R) having at least one helical track (E1, E2) carrying the material to be discharged. The drum rotor (R) is arranged adjacent to the moving substrate (S), with its axis (X) substantially parallel to said conveying direction (A) so that the portion of the at least one helical track (E1, E2) which is closest to the substrate (S) moves in the conveying direction during rotation of the drum rotor (R) and discharges the material carried thereby on the substrate (S).

An apparatus for the production of filters for cigarettes or other smoking articles, comprises filter making means (10) and conveyor means (40; 41, 42) for feeding the produced filters (F) to a drying chamber (30) adapted to cause accelerated aging of the filters (F). To the drying chamber (30) there is associated a radiofrequency generator device (50), for generating a high frequency oscillating electric field in which said filters are immersed. The apparatus further comprises means for varying the speed at which said filters goes through said drying chamber, on the basis of at least one detected parameter, which is indicative of the humidity contained within said filters, so that, for a given power of said radiofrequency generator device (50), the residence time of the filters within said drying chamber is adjusted so as to ensure a substantial elimination of the humidity content from the filters.

A package for smoking articles, for example for cigarettes, comprising a container (2) and an inner wrapping (5). The container (2) has a container body (3) open on one end face, and an end lid (4) articulated to the container body (3). The inner wrapping (5) is configured to define an opening (7) for extracting the smoking articles (6), and comprises a layer of wrapping sheet material defining a closing flap (8) operatively connected to said lid (4), so as to separate it from the rest of the wrapping (5), along a separation line (70) when the lid is opened and to reposition itself in an essentially complementary manner within the opening (7) for extracting the smoking articles (6), when the lid (4) is closed, to restore a substantial continuity of the wrapping (5). The closing flap (8) is directly connected to the lid, without the interposition of additional flaps that adhere to the outer surface of the inner wrapping in the closed condition of the package. In a variant, the wall of the inner wrapping has two superimposed layers. When the lid is opened, an outer flap portion (80) formed in the outer layer and adhering to the lid (4) leaves free access to one or more openings for extracting the smoking articles, formed in the inner layer and corresponding, for example, to different compartments of the inner wrapping of the package.

In the production of composite rods for the tobacco industry, such as cigarette filters or cigarette substitute smoking articles, comprising a plurality of segments (A, B) enclosed within a web (W) which is wrapped and glued around them, the adhesion of the web (W) on the segments (A, B) is obtained by applying adhesive material (C) directly over at least some of said segments (A, B). The adhesion between the web (W) and the segments (A, B) can be obtained simply by the adhesive material which is deposited directly on the segments (A, B) or also with the aid of adhesive material deposited also on the web (W), so as to obtain an adhesion by a contact of the adhesive material on the segments with the adhesive material on the web (glue-to-glue contact).

In an apparatus for the continuous production of a filter rod (M) for smoking articles, a belt conveyor system is arranged for advancing a rod of filter material (M) along a forming path (F). The belt conveyor system comprises at least two separate conveyor belts (1, 2), having respective upper conveying runs arranged one downstream of the other along said forming path (F). The speeds of movement of the aforesaid conveyor belts (1, 2) are controlled according to a predetermined ratio, which is selected in order to obtain a controlled axial stretching effect or a controlled axial compacting effect of the material of the filter rod as a result of the transition from one conveyor belt to the other, so as to influence the characteristics of the produced filter rod in the required manner. Alternatively or in addition to the aforesaid arrangement, additional operations can be performed in the area between the upper runs of the conveyor belts (1, 2), which modify the configuration and/or structure of the filter rod, such as shaping of the cross-section of the filter rod and/or marking of the filter rod surface and/or embossing of the filter rod surface, or filter material can be supplied to form an outer layer of the filter rod. In this latter case, the apparatus can be used to produce a filter rod having a structure with coaxial configuration.

A package for smoking articles, for example cigarettes, comprising a container (2) and at least one inner wrapping (5) arranged within said container (2), to enclose the smoking articles (6). The container (2) has a container body (3) and a lid (4) articulated to the container body (3). The inner wrapping (5) is provided with an opening (7) for extracting the smoking articles (6), which is closed by a closing flap (8) operatively connected, directly or indirectly, to the lid (4), in such a way that that the closing flap (8) moves between a closed condition and an open condition as a result of the movement of the lid (4) between its closed position and its open position. The lid opens the container body (3) at a main face (201) of the package. In a variant, the inner wrapping (5) is formed of a double-layer wrapping sheet material, with an outer layer that integrates a portion of the outer flap (80) movable with said lid (4) and configured to leave the access free to one or more inner flap portions (81) defined by said inner layer and corresponding to different compartments within the inner wrapping. The inner flap portions can be lifted for defining the openings for extracting the smoking articles. One or more of these inner flap portions are integral with the outer flap portion, so that they are lifted when the lid is opened.
