Abstract: Recent 3GPP enhancements include enhancing topology of SMF and UPF in 5G Networks.The present document proposes methods for enabling such enhancements in case a SMF is not able or it is not allowed to control UPF(s) throughout the same PLMN. For example, in large countries the network may be divided into "regions" that each are locally managed and where it is required that UPF deployed in a region are only "controlled" by SMF(s) in the same region. When the UE moves to a new area, there will be no UPF under the same SMF control. The present document addresses various technical issues relating to such deployments.

Abstract: A communication system is disclosed in which a common network function supports policy control via a plurality of secondary level network functions, by coordinating dynamic policy control by providing information relevant for supporting policy decisions by at least one secondary level network function. One or more network functions are provided which are configurable to operate as a secondary level network function. When operating as a secondary level network function, each network function obtains appropriate information from the common network function and performs dynamic policy control based on the obtained information.

Abstract: A method is disclosed for real-time and dynamic event-related information derivation and dissemination by a road infrastructure to control, coordinate and consolidate information from at least one observation entity (10), the observation entity (10) being preferably an independent vehicle (1), a mobile device or the like. The method comprises receiving, by a road infrastructure server of the road infrastructure, event information from one or multiple observation entities (10), wherein each of the observation entities (10) provides its event information as an event information frame that comprises an event data record including a number of attributes together with a unique identifier referencing the event data record, collecting and analyzing the event information frames received from the observation entities (10) and processing them to generate a combined event information frame that includes composite event information, a unique identifier referencing the composite event information, and control commands to coordinate the communication with the observation entities (10), and distributing the combined event information frame within a distribution domain. Abstract: A method is described that leverages data analytics and machine learning to enable continued adjustment and optimisation of allocated and used resources for the communication in a 5G System Architecture per the service-based architecture principles, while meeting expected performance figures. This is of particular value in a cloud deployment of control plane functions per the 5G System Architecture, which utilise service-based interfaces and follow the associated principles of a Service Consumer and Service Producer. Optimisation is based on selected features from mobile subscriber/device context, such as mobility and communication patterns, connection status and delay tolerance on the control-and/or data plane.
