Abstract:
A spot weld electrode shank/cap assembly includes a fluted electrode shank and, preferably, an internally finned electrode cap where each of the shank and cap may be fluted along their external bodies and in fluid communication with a gas delivery tube for delivering an inert gas to an aluminum work piece surface. Alternatively, the shank/cap assembly includes an electrode shank with a domed electrode cap, the assembly being in fluid communication with a gas delivery tube having a fluted inner wall.
Abstract:
A modular motor system and methods wherein at least two dual radial gap motors with attachment points may be joined together in a modular manner for the purpose of providing the capability of incrementally increasing or decreasing the total power output of the modular
Abstract:
An electric motor/generator includes a non-magnetic rotor frame and non-magnetic motor frame, the rotor frame rotating relative to the stator frame. A plurality of induction modules are secured to the stator frame and a cooling manifold is disposed within the stator frame. The rotor frame includes a pair of opposed annular magnetic arrays mounted to opposing surfaces of a pair of back-up rings, an annular cylindrical or radial gap is defined between an inner magnetic array and the induction modules. An outer annular cylindrical or radial gap is defined between an outer magnetic array and the induction modules. Each induction module is individually encapsulated in a thermally conductive, electrically insulated molding polymer, the polymer defining a heat sink.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a spot resistance welding electrode cap for welding two or more work-pieces together, including a substantially cylindrical body having an interior surface, an exterior surface, and a tapered interior cavity for frictionally fitting over an electrode shank. The exterior surface of the body includes a plurality of longitudinally extending depressions or flutes formed therein which provide an increased external surface area to the electrode cap, thus increasing the ability to transfer additional amounts of heat. The electrode cap further includes a plurality of fins disposed on the interior surface of the body within the interior cavity. The free ends of the fins are chamfered in order to ease the transition of coolant flowing throughout the shank proximate the electrode cap.
Abstract:
A radial gap motor/generator has a thin annular array of magnets mounted for rotation to a stator in a radially spaced relation to at least one thin annular induction structure fixed to a stationary stator may be air or liquid cooled. Further, the motor has at least radial gap between a magnetic core and the array and may include multiple gaps and multiple annular induction structures to increase the overall power density of the system.
