Abstract:
A device for communication includes a processor, a transmitter, and a receiver. The processor is configured to generate a traffic advertisement indicating availability of data to be sent to a plurality of devices. The traffic advertisement includes a unicast message addressed to a first device of the plurality of devices. The transmitter is configured to transmit the traffic advertisement during a paging window. The receiver is configured to receive, during a data transmission window that is subsequent to the paging window, a data request from a second device of the plurality of devices. The data request is responsive to the traffic advertisement. The transmitter is further configured to send first data to the second device responsive to the data request.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices are described for wireless communication at a wireless device, and for selecting or coordinating with an access point (AP) based on association performance of access points. A wireless device under the coverage of more than one AP can associate with one or more APs to establish communication with a network. A wireless device may estimate a delay due to authentication with an AP, and the wireless device may communicate with another AP while waiting to be authenticated. In some examples, a wireless device may associate with an AP despite sub-optimal access metrics; this may involve certain permissions from the AP. In other examples, an AP may manage pre-association devices, post-association devices, or both, based on certain priorities. A mobile device may request and/or receive information regarding association delays and/or channel load metrics from one or several APs and may select an AP accordingly.
Abstract:
A method includes transmitting, at an electronic device in a neighbor aware network (NAN), a discovery beacon at a designated discovery beacon transmission time. The designated discovery beacon transmission time is determined based on an internal clock of the electronic device. The method further includes synchronizing the internal clock to a clock reference that is external to the electronic device.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices are described for discovering and establishing an optimal data path between a source device and a destination device of a first network by employing one or more other networks having a network protocol different from the first network. The techniques of the present disclosure may include receiving a route request message from the source device at an edge device connected to both a first network and a second network, and forwarding the route request message via the second network. In some examples, the data path that offers an improved link metric and/or a minimum hop count may be established by routing traffic along a data path employing a plurality of networks (e.g., WLAN, cellular or Ethernet) between the source device and the destination device.
Abstract:
A method of wireless communication by a station, comprising receiving access point (AP) association information for each of one or more APs; and determining to associate with one of the one or more APs based on the received AP association information. In a different embodiment, a method of wireless communication by a station, comprising receiving a request including at least one information identifier from a first access point (AP) associated with the station; collecting information indicated by the at least one information identifier from each of a plurality of APs to generate a report including AP information of the plurality of APs; and sending the report including the AP information of the plurality of APs to the first AP to generate a neighbor report including the AP information of the plurality of APs.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices are described for communications via a mesh network. To join an existing mesh network, a wireless communication device may identify a member device from a plurality of member devices of an existing mesh network. The wireless communication device may communicate with the identified member device to participate in a single authentication procedure. Upon successfully completing the single authentication procedure, the wireless communication device may join the existing mesh network without needing any additional authentication procedures with another member device of the plurality of member devices to join the existing mesh network. This approach may be used for any mesh network, such as a social Wi-Fi mesh network.
Abstract:
A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. The apparatus may comprise an interface configured to communicate data via a first device while an association is maintained with the first device and a processing system configured to perform pre-association operations, via the interface, to initiate association with a second device, while maintaining the association with the first device, and to decide to complete association with the second device and communicate data with the second device, based on a first one or more conditions.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for communicating in a wireless communication system are described. In one aspect a method in a wireless communication system includes assigning a first identifier at a first access point, the first identifier for establishing a link with the first access point. The method includes receiving from a device an access request message to establish the link, the access request message including a second identifier associated with a plurality of access points configured to provide the link, the plurality of access points including the first access point, the second identifier including a sequence of bits having a bit length, wherein the sequence of bits is based on the first identifier, and wherein the bit length of the sequence of bits is less than the first number of bits. The further includes transmitting an access response message establishing the link with the device and including the first identifier.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for network pre-configuration of Quality of Service (QoS) parameters in a communication channel triggered by establishment of packet data access by an access terminal with the network. The network-determined and network-initiated pre-establishment of the QoS parameters are for one or more reservation links, which each relate to a corresponding one or more applications resident on the access terminal.
Abstract:
Access by a mobile station to a femto access point (FAP) of a wireless communication system is controlled by an enforcement point in response to mobile station authorization data provided from a storage point that is remote from the FAP. The authorization data is provided in response to FAP authentication data. The authentication data may include a FAP identifier and a message authenticator that the FAP generates by hashing shared secret information. The storage point may provide the authorization data in response to determining that the message authenticator is a hash of the shared secret information.
