Disclosed is an electronic apparatus including a first camera having a first FOV, a second camera having a second FOV included in the first FOV, and a processor. The electronic apparatus is configured to obtain a request associated with biometric authentication, to identify a first external object associated with the biometric authentication among one or more external objects included in the at least first images while obtaining at least first images and at least second images respectively corresponding to the first FOV and the second FOV, based at least on the request, and when a second external object, which is at least part of the first external object and which is associated with the biometric authentication, is not included in the at least second images, to provide notification information for obtaining at least one second image including the second external object.

An electronic device is provided. The electronic device includes a camera including an image sensor including a plurality of pixels, a memory, and a processor that controls the camera. Each pixel included in the plurality of pixels includes a plurality of photodiodes and a microlens covering the plurality of photodiodes. The processor obtains phase images and image data for an external object using the plurality of photodiodes of the image sensor and authenticates the external object using the phase images and the image data. In addition, various embodiments recognized through the specification are possible.

A method for controlling a camera of an electronic device is provided. The method includes generating a plurality of beams using an antenna array including a plurality of antenna elements and detecting an external object using the plurality of beams, sensing a movement of the external object using a first beam corresponding to the external object among the plurality of beams, identifying a gesture corresponding to the movement based on the movement of the external object, and controlling a first camera of the electronic device based on the gesture.

The processor obtains a first image at least based on light output through at least some of the plurality of pixels and reflected by an external object coming into contact with the transparent member using the image sensor, performs authentication on the external object at least based on the at least one template using the first image, generates a second image of the external object at least based on the first image when quality of the first image corresponds to a given condition based on a result of the authentication, and performs authentication on the external object at least based on the at least one template using the second image.
