Abstract: A manufacturing method employs a robotic assembly system (4) to position: - a first system component having a particular tool (12) of a plurality of different types of tools (1, 2, 3, 12) against one side of the structural pieces (28, 32) to be fastened, where the particular tool (12) installs a particular fastener (26) of a plurality of different types of fasteners; each tool (1, 2, 3, 12) including a block or base of magnetic material (14) with a passageway opening (42) for the particular fastener to pass through the base (14); - an electromagnet assembly (20) on the opposite side of the structural pieces, to clamp the structural pieces (28, 32) together. The tool is then activated to install the fastener (26) in the structural pieces.
