Abstract:
An assembly tool (104) for positioning the rolling elements (150, 155) of a bearing assembly (100) during a preloading operation includes a roller seating actuator (400) configured to be removably coupled to a portion of the bearing assembly during the preloading operation, and a roller seating ring (420) movably coupled to the roller seating actuator. The roller seating ring includes a distal end (440) configured to engage an end of a rolling element of the bearing assembly. A biasing member (460) is positioned between the roller seating actuator and the roller seating ring and biases the roller seating ring away from roller seating actuator such that the distal end of the roller seating ring engages and presses the rolling element axially into engagement with a rib (145) of a race of the bearing assembly.
Abstract:
A spherical roller bearing assembly (A) for installation on a dragline shaft (16 of an earth excavating device. The bearing assembly has a sealing arrangement and a closure arrangement to prevent the loss of lubricants from the bearing and to prevent the entrance of contaminants into the bearing. Seal carriers (10) attach contact lip seals (9) to the outer ring (2). An upper seal wear ring (5) and a lower seal wear ring (6) have wear surfaces that touch the contact lip seal (9) to form a seal. An upper closure ring (7) and a lower closure ring (8) resist the entrance of contaminants into the interior components of the bearing assembly (A).
Abstract:
A ball joint (A) which uses spherical rollers (5) to reduce the torque friction which tends to inhibit the rotation of the ball (4) within a ball joint assembly (A). Two sets of spherical rollers (5) are captivated between the ball (4) and two liner rings (2, 3) in the ball joint housing (1). The ball (4) has two annular raceways (22) which act as the inner raceways for the spherical rollers (5). Two liner rings (2, 3) have internal diameters which match the configuration of the spherical rollers (5) and which act as outer raceways for the spherical rollers (5). The two liner rings (2, 3) have external threads (14) and are installed into the housing (1) which has matching internal threads (8).
