Abstract:
Abstract:
An internal tensioning structure for use in an inflatable product fulfills the basic function of maintaining two adjacent inflatable surfaces in a desired geometric arrangement when the inflatable product is pressurized. The tensioning structure is formed by connecting a pair of plastic strips sheets via spaced-apart strands, such as strings or wires. When pulled taut, the strands provide a high tensile strength between the two opposed plastic strips. At the same time, the plastic strips facilitate a strong, long-lasting weld between the tensioning structure and the inflatable product.
Abstract:
An inflatable mattress has an internal support structure including a plurality of elongated beams spanning the height and width of the inflatable mattress, each beam having a mesh panel to restrict the elasticity of the beam and provide increased stability.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed towards inflatable bodies having improved means for mitigating thermal radiation transmission from one side of the inflatable body to an opposing side. The improved means, which broadly comprise the incorporation of at least one selectively linked and spaced apart intra-body radiant barrier, yield unexpected gains in thermal performance for inflatable bodies that otherwise might not find utility in certain environmental conditions, as will be described below.
Abstract:
A furniture seat assembly (10) that comprises a fillable liner (12) comprising two or more adjoined and reticulated chambers (14a-14e) that collectively define a predetermined exterior seat shape when filled, and a liner opening (32) provided in the liner to enable filling of the chambers. The chambers (14a-14e) of the liner (12) are filled with fill material (18) to form the liner into the exterior seat shape ready for use.
Abstract:
An inflatable, buoyant and portable platform (100), particularly for emergency use, such as during a plane crash or a sinking ship is disclosed. The platform (100) comprises a hollow inflatable enclosure (105) having a top surface (165) and a bottom surface (170), both the surfaces (165,170) being peripherally joined by a flexible curtain (175). A support means (180) is provided inside the enclosure (105), that adapts an extended form when the enclosure (105) is inflated, for enhancing rigidity of the enclosure (105) when inflated and loaded. The support means (180) adapts a retracted form when the enclosure (105) is deflated. The enclosure (105) is inflatable through an inflating valve (135) by an external source of compressed gas and deflatable through a deflating valve (145) and an exit valve (185), the valves (135,145,185) being provided on the enclosure (105). The platform (100) is also connectable to one another, forming a platform of different shapes and sizes.
Abstract:
An inflatable device for people to sit, lie or sleep on is provided, which device allows water vapor produced by the person's perspiration or condensation to escape from the vicinity of his/her body, which device can be readily manufactured without undue amounts of human labor, which device is suitable for disposable use, and which device is of such a construction that in the event that there is a rupture or loss of pressure the entire device will not collapse.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein is an inflatable support system having (10) at least two sections. The inflatable support system (10) has a lower chamber (12) that has a top (16) and bottom layer (20). The inflatable support system also has an upper portion (14) which includes a top (36) and bottom layer (38) in fluid communication with the lower chamber (12). At least one of either the top (36) or bottom layers (38) of the upper portion (14) of the inflatable support system (10) has a higher elasticity than at least one of the layers of the lower chamber (12).
Abstract:
A tie arrangement (100) for use with a body support unit (50), the body support unit comprising a plurality if columns arranged substantially parallel to one another, each column comprised of a plurality of fluid- tillable substantially spherical cells (2) connected together, the tie arrangement comprising a tie member (101) having at least one retention aperture (102) configured to be releasably connected to eaa column at point of reduced diameter between two neighbouring cells.
