Abstract:
A system includes an introducer configured to be inserted through the puncture along a guidewire that extends through the puncture into the vessel. The introducer includes an introducer body, a proximal tapered tip, a distal tapered tip that is opposite to the proximal tapered tip along the central axis, and a bore that extends from the proximal tapered tip to the distal tapered tip along the central axis. The system includes an access sheath configured to be inserted over the introducer. The access sheath includes a front end, a rear end opposite to the front end, and a lumen that extends from the front end to the rear end. The proximal tapered tip of the introducer is configured to be inserted into the front end and through the lumen of access sheath, such that a movable interference fit is attained between the access sheath and the introducer.
Abstract:
Fascial wound closure device that includes an applicator releasably attached to an implant main body having a plurality of connecting members configured to extend from the implant main body. A lattice formed between the connecting members extending from the implant main body. A plurality of tissue engagement hooks mounted within a respective one of the plurality of connecting members configured to penetratingly engage at least one layer of body tissue so as to securely close a fascial wound. Method of producing a secure closure of a laparoscopic puncture site is provided.
Abstract:
A system for forming a suture connector in situ includes a suture connector placement device having a handle, an outer shaft, an intermediate shaft, and a push rod, and a suture connector having a sleeve and a plug. The intermediate shaft is slidingly disposed through a lumen of the outer shaft, and the push rod is slidingly disposed through a lumen of the intermediate shaft. When the suture connector is in a loaded configuration within the suture connector placement device, the sleeve is radially disposed over the intermediate shaft and the plug is positioned proximal to the sleeve within the lumen of the intermediate shaft. Distal advancement of the push rod moves the plug into the sleeve and proximal retraction of the intermediate shaft releases the resilient sleeve onto the plug, thereby securing two suture portions between the sleeve and the plug. The system is then utilized to trim the suture portions.
Abstract:
A combination radial arm band and hemostatic material preferably including potassium ferrate and a cation ion exchange resin in powder or granular form (WOUNDSEAL) or formed into a solid tablet (STATSEAL) and having improved topical effectiveness in the arresting of blood flow from a puncture wound into the radial artery made during transradial diagnostic or interventional catheterization procedures. The combination reduces time and pressure needed to achieve hemostasis and decreases arterial damage as compared to use of a radial arm band alone. In one aspect of this disclosure, careful limitation of applied force and time of applied force against the STATSEAL tablet reduces likelihood of harm to the radial artery while minimizing time to achieve hemostasis.
Abstract:
The present embodiments provide an expandable mesh comprising a first coupling element, a second coupling element, and an intermediate portion disposed between the first coupling element and the second coupling element. Proximal retraction of the first coupling element relative to the second coupling element causes the intermediate portion to flare out to an enlarged width. In one embodiment, the first coupling element comprises a first tube and the second coupling element comprises a second tube.
Abstract:
A vascular closure device includes a release component, a delivery component, a sealing device and at least one actuator. The release component is elongate along a longitudinal direction, and defines a distal end and a proximal end. The delivery component extends along the release component such that at least the release component is movable relative to the delivery component. The delivery component includes a delivery tube body and defines a delivery tube channel. The sealing device has a toggle that is at least partially disposed within the release tube, a suture that is attached to the toggle and extends through the delivery tube channel, and a plug that is attached to the suture proximal to the toggle. The actuator is coupled to the release component and is in communication with the suture such that actuation of the actuator causes (i) the release component to move the proximal direction relative to the delivery component so as to release the toggle from the release component, and (ii) the suture to be pulled in a proximal direction to thereby place the filament in tension and urge the toggle against a distal end of the delivery component such that the toggle is oriented in a sealing position.
Abstract:
A closure system, assembly and attended method for closing and opening in the tissue of the patient includes first and second closure members each including a biased construction operative for disposition of the closure members into an out of retracted and expanded orientations. A connector is disposed in interconnecting relation with the closure members and structured to establish at least a partial spacing there between. The biased construction and the interconnection of the closure members facilitate con current disposition of the closure members with one another into and through an introductory instrument as well as independent and successive disposition of the first and second closure members into a closing relation to the tissue opening upon exiting the introductory instrument.
Abstract:
Vasculature closure devices, and systems and methods for their use, are provided. In one or more embodiments, a vasculature closure device (200) includes an expandable support frame (210) deployable within a vessel (10), and a sealing membrane (205) at least partially supported by the support frame (210). Upon expanding the support frame (210) within the vessel (10), the device is configured to intraluminally position the sealing membrane (205) against a puncture site existing in a wall of the vessel. The sealing membrane includes an area of excess membrane (245) configured to facilitate coupling of the sealing membrane to the wall of the vessel.
Abstract:
