Abstract: Methods and devices are disclosed for manipulating the tongue (9). An implant (3038) is positioned within at least a portion of the tongue (9) and may be secured to other surrounding structures such as the mandible (13) and/or hyoid bone (15). In general, the implant (3038) is manipulated to displace at least a portion of the posterior tongue in an anterior or lateral direction, or to alter the tissue tension or compliance of the tongue (9). Methods and devices for engaging the tongue (9) are also disclosed. One embodiment of a tongue remodeling system includes an elongate implant (3038) configured to be positioned within a selected region of the tongue (9) and a tether (3041) configured to suspend the tongue (9). The tether (3041) can be configured to be looped around the elongate implant (3038) and connected to another structure.

Abstract: A suture anchoring system having an implant body that defines a bore space extending longitudinally about a central axis from a proximal end to a distal end of the implant body. A tapering interference portion is provided on an interior surface of the implant body and extends into the bore space, the taper being toward the central axis of the implant body bore space from the proximal end to the distal end of the implant body. An anchor has a threaded anchor portion extending therefrom and defines a threaded bore, where the extended threaded anchor portion configured to be received in the bore space of the implant body. A slot is defined in the threaded anchor portion, the slot configured to receive the interference portion of the implant body; and a threaded plug is configured to be received in the threaded bore of the anchor.

Abstract: Various devices, systems and methods for knotless suturing of tissue are disclosed. These devices allow sutures to be anchored to bone, and more specifically provide a suture anchor which eliminates the need for knotting the suture. Thus, damaged tissue may be re-attached to a substrate tissue. The anchors have a minimum of moving parts may be suited to being a single molded polymer construction. The anchors will find particular utility in hip and shoulder arthroscopy, e.g. labral re-attachment and similar procedures.

Abstract: A surgical fastener assembly (10) for coupling first and second bone portions across a fracture (12) therebetween, is disclosed. In one embodiment of the present invention, the surgical fastener assembly includes an anchor (22) that has a first externally threaded portion (46) disposed in the first bone portion, and a second portion (44) which is at least partially disposed in the second bone portion. At least one pin (60) is operably associated with the first portion of the anchor such that when the pin is in a retracted position the pin is disposed within the anchor, and when the pin is in an extended position at least a portion of the pin extends outward from the anchor. An actuator (110) is disposed within the anchor, and is operably coupled with the at least one pin. A guide (20) is adapted to be fixedly secured to the second bone portion, and includes a sleeve (30). The second portion of the anchor is received within the sleeve. A fastener (24) is provided that has a head portion (82), and an externally threaded shank portion (80). The shank portion thread engages with the anchor, and the head portion operably engages with the guide.

Abstract: A surgical fastener assembly (10) for coupling first and second bone portions across a fracture (12) therebetween, is disclosed. Abstract: This invention is a surgical fastener assembly for coupling first and second bone portions across a fracture therebetween, including an elongated anchor of bone screw (10) insertable within the first bone such that one end portion of the anchor is disposed on one side of the fracture, while a second end portion of the anchor (10) is disposed on an opposite side of the fracture. A guide (20) having a sleeve-like projection (30) is fixedly secured to the second bone. The sleeve-like projection (30) moves slidably along and is guided by the second end portion of the anchor (10). A compression screw assembly (24) serves to operably secure the guide to the anchor such that the bone portions secured to each are maintained in compressive relationship.

Abstract: Various devices, systems and methods for knotless anchoring of sutures to repair bodily tissue are disclosed.
