摘要:
Methods and systems for assessing a visual field of a person are provided. Information can be presented to a person undergoing a visual field testing in a manner that utilizes the person's natural tendency to look at an object that is displayed so that it attracts the person's attention. A fixation target can be displayed on a display viewed by a user. Once it is determined that the user has viewed the fixation target and the person's eye(s) location is determined, a test target is displayed on the display in a location corresponding to a location on the user's visual field. The test target is determined to be either detected or missed based on user input acquired as the user is viewing the display.

A pixel light source apparatus, system and method are disclosed for a stimulus source for visual pathway testing. A representative system includes a plurality of pixel light sources and a control and driver circuit. The pixel light sources are coupled to each other to form a partially-spherical dome, with each pixel light source arranged to emit light directed to a convergent location of the partially- spherical dome. The control and driver circuit implements a selected stimulus protocol to selectively energize each pixel light source to generate light stimulation to any arbitrary or selected portion of the retina of an eye of a human subject. A representative pixel light source comprises at least one elongated and optically opaque side wall; a rear wall; an illumination source; a first optical element defining a first light chamber; and a second optical element defining a second light chamber.

The invention relates to an apparatus and a method therewith to quantify visual field in infants. The invention provides a novel solution to the unmet need of detection of defects in the visual field in infants and/ or babies and providing an apparatus with a software framework to minimize the errors of recording the readings and increasing their precision and analyzing said results automatically using the software embedded in the system. Said apparatus to quantify visual field in infants comprise of a light projection device onto a dome-shaped hemispherical structure with an infra-red camera along with fixation lights, a means for monitoring responses of the subject during testing, a means for recording and analyzing the readings. Said means to detect and record the eye/head movement in the subject during testing comprises said infra red (IR) camera connected to a device wherein software application is embedded.

The invention relates to a method and a respective computer program with a program code to execute said method, said method being arranged for training a preferred retinal locus of fixation (efficient PRL) for a person having an eye with a field of vision comprising an area (83) of partially diminished or entirely degenerated visual acuity. The method is characterized in the steps: a) determining an inefficient retinal region (82) outside said area (83) in said field of vision of said eye of said person and a more efficient retinal region (81) for said specific vision task outside said area (83) in said field of vision of said eye of said person and b) inducing a preferred retinal locus of fixation (efficient PRL) for a vision task outside said inefficient retinal region (82) but in said more efficient retinal region (81). In addition the invention relates to a device for training a preferred retinal locus of fixation (efficient PRL) for a person having an eye with a field of vision comprising an area (83) of partially diminished or entirely degenerated visual acuity. The device is characterized in an inducing arrangement for inducing a preferred retinal locus of fixation (efficient PRL) for a vision task outside an inefficient retinal region (82) in said field of vision of said eye of said person but in a more efficient retinal region (81) in said field of vision outside said area (83).

Systems and methods are described for measuring angular direction of individual photoreceptors in an eye. A light source is projected through the pupil of the eye onto the retina. An image of the light reflected back from the plurality of photoreceptors is captured at a first focal depth and then at a second focal depth, where the first focal depth is different than the second focal depth. At least one individual photoreceptor is identified in both images and a lateral difference of the position of the identified photoreceptor is measured. The angular direction of the photoreceptor is then calculated based on the measured lateral difference.

The present disclosure relates generally to a system and method for determining the refractive error of a patient, more particularly determining the patient's refractive error by using a computerized screen, and providing the patient with a prescription for the patient's preferred type of corrective lenses. The system and method do not require the trip or expense of a doctor visit, and are optimized for convenience and cost effectiveness. In a general embodiment, the present disclosure provides a method for determining a corrective lenses prescription of a patient. The method includes, separately, for each eye of the patient, determining the astigmatism prescription of the patient via a computerized screen, and determining the power of the corrective lenses prescription of the patient via the computerized screen.

This invention relates to a method for providing markers for evaluating and/or practising the visual field recognizable by an eye, and/or eyes, and/or visual system of a person. The method relies on the reporting of the person of identifications of fixation objects only identifiable when the eye or eyes of the person are accurately fixated on the fixation object. Accordingly active monitoring of a saccade, if a saccade triggering stimulus is employed; or smooth pursuit, if smooth pursuit triggering stimulus is employed, of the eye of the person is not needed for determining whereto to eye or eyes are fixated. The present invention also relates to the use of a system employing the method of the invention. The present invention further relates to a system for the method of the invention and a software product for the system.
