Abstract:
A method and apparatus for stabilizing first and second adjacent bone portions. The method includes the steps of: providing a spacer; providing a stabilizer, with the spacer and stabilizer configured to foe movable guidingly, one relative to the other, between a pre-assembSy relationship and an operative relationship.; and placing the spacer and stabilizer into an operative relationship with the first and second adjacent bone portions. As an incident of the spacer and stabilizer being changed from their pre-assembly relationship into the operative relationship with each other and the first and second bone portions, the spacer, stabilizer and first bone portion cooperate to cause the first bone portion and spacer to be urged towards each other. The method may be carried out by moving the stabilizer and spacer, and all auxiliary parts and handling and assembling instruments, substantially in a single plane along one line or parallel lines.
Abstract:
A repair system including a closure prosthesis and deployment device, and associated methods for repairing any imperfection including a flaw, hole, tear, bulge, or, in some cases, a deliberate cut or incision in any tissue including an intervertebral disc is disclosed. The prosthesis has first and second side portions with a connecting central portion, and is designed to span an imperfection with opposite ends positioned on opposite sides of the imperfection or the same side of the imperfection. The prosthesis may include anchoring features including barbs and/or members that extend transversely or at different angles. The deployment device can include a cannula for positioning the prosthesis near the imperfection, and, in some cases, a mechanism that may cause the two sides of the prosthesis to be deployed in a specific order.
Abstract:
Intervertebral implant, comprising two plates (1, 2; 31, 32; 53-58) intended to come into contact with the patient's vertebral plates, characterised in that at least one of said plates (1, 2; 31, 32) has a cutout delineating webs (6, 10; 35; 59-64) converging toward a zone where the plates (1, 2; 31, 32) are connected to one another, said webs (6, 10; 35; 59-64) not being in mutual contact when the prosthesis is ready for use. Spine stabilisation device comprising at least one such implant.

Abstract:
The present application generally relates to orthopedic systems, and in particular, to systems including independent plates and spacers. A plating system can include a spacer and a plate that is independent from the spacer. A number of locking mechanisms can be provided to secure the plate to the spacer. In some cases, the spacer includes a pair of notches that extend on an outer surface of the spacer. The plate can include a pair of lateral extensions that can engage the notches to secure the plate to the spacer. In other cases, the spacer includes an opening including a pair of inlets. The plate can include an enclosed posterior extension that can be received in the pair of inlets to secure the plate to the spacer.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for stabilizing first and second adjacent bone portions. The apparatus has a spacer configured to be placed between the first and second bone portions and at least one stabilizer configured to be joined: a) to each of the first bone portion and the spacer; and b) to at least one of the first bone portion and spacer by being translated relative to the at least one of the first bone portion and spacer.
Abstract:
