A thin-form mouthguard can be formed from a U-shape planar sheet. The sheet can be made of expanded-polytetrafluoroethylene and have a thickness between 0.02 inches and 0.25 inches. The sheet can also include instructions for modification of the mouthguard printed thereon. A method for preparing a mouthguard is also provided.

Abstract:
Various examples are provided for a smart mouth guard for diagnosis, quantification, and/or management of, e.g., bruxism. In one example, among others, a diagnostic mouth guard includes a plurality of pressure sensors and processing circuitry configured to provide pressure sensor data to an external processing unit when located in an oral cavity. The diagnostic mouth guard may also include temperature, pH and/or inertia sensors. In another example, a system includes the diagnostic mouth guard and the external processing unit such as, e.g., a smart phone, table or computer. The diagnostic mouth guard can communicate with the external processing unit over a wireless channel.

Abstract:
An oral orthosis includes a holder in the shape of a mouthpiece, including a curved arcuate trough-like upper section which receives a formable material. The formable material does not occupy the entire trough but rather includes voids between the formable material and the inner surfaces of trough of the holder to allow expansion of the formable material into the voids during the molding process when tooth pressure is placed on the formable material. This design results in elimination of the excess formable material which otherwise would require removal by trimming. Additionally, the formable material is placed in the trough in a configuration which includes indexing indentations along the centerline of the material, such that, during the molding process, the mouthpiece containing the formable material is easily centered along the edges of the user's teeth to provide a precise fitting.

Sistema con capacidad de detección intrabucal de Ia actividad bruxista y otras patologías oclusales, así como de transmisión a elementos electrónicos portátiles, que gracias a su capacidad de análisis e interpretación de Ia información recibida actúan sobre el paciente de modo que se induzca el cese de Ia actividad bruxista. La actuación extrabucal se realiza por medio de elementos capaces de emitir señales acústicas, luminosas o vibratorias, a elección, pudiendo ser de intensidad variable o progresivas, de modo que alerten al paciente de su comportamiento indeseado. La actuación intrabucal detiene la actividad bruxista mediante el suministro de fármacos, suministro de sustancias amargas y/o aplicación de estímulos eléctricos o vibratorios.

A self customizable dental appliance adapted to lie within the mouth of a person including occlusal pads with a connecting arch or a u-shaped style base with upstanding labial and lingual walls. The appliance is formed of a semi-crystalline polyolefin polymer or crystallizable blend. In one embodiment, the appliance is formed of elastomeric propylene-ethylene polypropylene, optionally including high density polypropylene. An optional occlusal lifting pad can be used in the self-customizable dental appliance.

A bruxism preventing tool which prevents teeth from bruxism, ensures a fitting stability and is applicable to many people, comprising a protection part (2) formed in a U-shape along a dentition and covering the occlusal surfaces of teeth and an engaging part (3) continuously provided on the inner periphery of the protection part and covering the rear sides of teeth, wherein the lower layer (2y) of the protection part serving the side to be fitted to teeth and the engaging part continuously provided to the lower layer are formed of a thermoplastic resin having a softening temperature lower than a water boiling temperature and the upper layer (2x) of the protection part is formed into a plane shape using a material that does not soften at the above softening temperature.
