Abstract:
The present invention is related to a cryogenic chamber (1), in particular an open cryogenic chamber, containing a thermally insulated treatment part (2), a cooling system including a cooling fluid tank (3) containing the cooling fluid and a pipeline distributing the cooling medium, an exhaust fan (8) as well as a control-measurement system characterised in that the cooling system is equipped with a pipe-type or a pipe/lamelle-type heat exchanger (5) with inlet and outlet of the cooling medium, which is provided, along the entire length of the pipe or along a part thereof, with openings (6), in the form of slits and/or holes and/or nozzles.
Abstract:
Abstract:
The present Invention relates to a pen for the treatment of dermatological disorders, such as warts and the like, by means of a coolant. The pen comprises a distal part comprising a holder for the storage of a coolant and a proximal part comprising an applicator for the administration of the coolant to the dermatological surface to treat, which parts extend axially and which parts are in coolant communication by means of a coolant passage In the proximal part, in which a valve body is provided for closing off and/or opening the passage. The passage is provided with at least one bypass for the coolant. In addition, the invention relates to a method for the administration of the pen.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a method and device for non-invasive anatomical and systemic cooling. The method and device provide for cooling of various bodily fluid- containing spaces or surfaces, such as mucus-containing spaces or surfaces via delivery of a dry fluid not including a coolant into or upon the mucus-containing space or surface. Exposure of such mucus to the dry fluid results in evaporation and cooling of the anatomical feature and/or systemic cooling, as intended. In this fashion, therapeutic hypothermia may be achieved to provide for neuroprotection of various organs after ischemic insult, such the brain after cardiac arrest.
Abstract:
A method for improving the success of resuscitation efforts following cardiac arrest is provided. Return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) rates following cardiac arrest is directly related to the coronary perfusion pressure during cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Selective cooling of the nasal cavity, nasopharynx, oral cavity, oropharynx, retrotonsillar space, mouth, neck face, and/or throat of a patient suffering from cardiac arrest, significantly increases the coronary perfusion pressure which improves ROSC rates. Cooling may be initiated before or during resuscitation efforts including chest compressions, defibrillation and/or administering a vasoconstrictor.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to headwear including a cooling device formed using a woven or non-woven material. More particularly, the invention relates to headwear including a cooling device formed of an absorptive material such as polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) having high absorptive capacity. The headwear and the cooling device are designed to fit securely on the wearer's head or with a hat. When moistened, the cooling device provides sustained cooling via an evaporative cooling process.
Abstract:

Abstract:
The present invention provides a low-cost, low-power therapeutic hypothermia device for use in developing nations. The device includes a first and second receptacle separated by a space filled with a porous material such as sand. A cooling chemical can also be added to the porous material in order to speed cooling. Water is added to the porous material and a neonate is placed into the device for therapeutic hypothermia treatment. The neonate is monitored carefully using temperature sensors and a feedback system integrated into the device. Cooling can be modulated and/or warming commenced by adding Styrofoam blocks to raise the neonate off the surface of the device.
