Abstract:
A warming device includes a clinical garment with a flexible inflatable convective apparatus integrated with or supported on a surface of the garment for warming one or more limbs when the apparatus is inflated with warmed air. The convective apparatus includes a central member, one or more peripheral diffusers, and one or more flexible ducts. In some cases, each duct connects a diffuser with the central member. One or more inlet ports are provided in the convective apparatus to receive the end of an air hose. The central member is inflatable in response to a flow of air through an inlet port. A peripheral diffuser is positioned on the clinical garment so as to be deployable to or near to an extremity such as a limb. When a peripheral diffuser is deployed while the central member is inflated with warmed air, the warmed air flows from the central member, through a duct to the peripheral diffuser and is emitted through an air-permeable wall of the diffuser to warm the extremity.
Abstract:
Thermoelectric devices and methods for making and using the devices and their intermediates are provided. Membrane-supported thermoelectric modules are fabricated by dispensing thermoelectric powder into select locations of a membrane to form electrically-isolated columns of thermoelectric material. The powder is then sintered or fused to form thermoelectric elements, which are then electrically connected and combined with thermal interface films to form the modules. The modules are the building blocks of electrical current generating, thermoelectric cooling and heat scavenging thermoelectric devices.
Abstract:
A portable head-mounted device for cooling the under-eye area of skin, said device comprising at least one cooling element arranged to be located adjacent the skin of the under-eye area when the device is mounted to the head, the cooling element having a first side that faces the under-eye area of skin when the device is mounted to a head and a second side that faces away from the skin of the under-eye area; said at least one cooling element comprising: liquid retaining means adapted to retain a liquid provided thereto; and heat transfer means adapted to transfer heat by conduction to a liquid retained by the liquid retaining means to promote evaporation of said liquid thereby providing a cooling effect when the device is mounted to the head in use
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a bag having a fine ceramic composition for containing cold or warm media, wherein the bag comprises a main body for housing cold or warm media therein, and a fine ceramic composition contained in the main body. The fine ceramic composition consists of 45 to 50 wt % of silicic acid anhydride, 20 to 25 wt % of aluminum oxide, 5 to 7 wt % of ferrous oxide, 5 to 7 wt % of ferric oxide, 2 to 4 wt % of magnesium oxide, 1 to 3 wt % of calcium oxide, 2 to 4 wt % of sodium, 3 to 5 wt % of potassium, 0.1 to 0.5 wt % of lipoprotein, 0.1 to 0.5 wt % of phosphoric acid anhydride, 0.1 to 0.5 wt % of manganese oxide, and 0.5 to 1.5 wt % of other ingredients. Said fine ceramic composition is processed so that energy is radiated at a wavelength range optimized for the human body for the application of same to any physical constitution. Further, the high-purity separation and refinement of raw materials are possible, and the same radiation is maintained for a long time - almost semi-permanently. Moreover, porosity and dissolved oxygen can be increased.

Abstract:
A stretchable cooling sheet (11) provided with a hydrous gel layer (13) comprising a water-soluble polymer and a large amount of water contained in the polymer, which comprises the hydrous gel layer (13), the first sheet (14) which is made of a stretchable fiber and placed on the underside of the gel layer (13) in such a way as to cover the whole of the underside, a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer (17) containing powdered aluminum and a release paper (19) which are placed on the underside of the first sheet (14) successively in such a way as to cover the whole of the underside, and the second sheet (16) which is at least unidirectionally stretchable and is placed on the face of the hydrous gel layer (13) in such a way as to cover the whole of the face. In using, the release paper (19) is peeled off and the resulting sheet is applied directly to an affected part with the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer (17) faced to the affected part, whereby the cooling sheet (11) can adhere stably to an affected part and the water contained in the hydrous gel layer (13) can evaporate through the first and second sheets (14, 16) to make a cooling effect on the affected part.
