Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a liquid-absorbing article comprising: - a first sheet layer presenting an array of absorbent receiving pockets; - masses of superabsorbent material, which masses are placed in said absorbent receiving pockets; - a second sheet layer placed on top of the first layer; - bonding beads placed between the respective pockets.
Abstract:
A method for making a disposable absorbent core comprises depositing absorbent particulate polymer material from a plurality of reservoirs in a printing roll onto a substrate disposed on a grid of a support which includes a plurality of cross bars extending substantially parallel to and spaced from one another so as to form channels extending between the plurality of cross bars. The plurality of reservoirs in the first peripheral surface are arranged in an array comprising rows extending substantially parallel to and spaced from one another. The support and printing roll are arranged such that the plurality of cross bars are substantially parallel to the rows of the plurality of reservoirs and the absorbent particulate polymer material is deposited on the substrate in a pattern such that the absorbent particulate polymer material collects in rows on the first substrate formed between the first plurality of cross bars. A thermoplastic adhesive material is deposited on the absorbent particulate polymer material and the substrate to cover the absorbent particulate polymer material on the substrate and form an absorbent layer. A disposable absorbent article and apparatus for making an absorbent article are also disclosed.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a novel process for preparing an absorbent article, wherein the process comprises providing a first sheet layer (2); conforming said first layer on a first roll C2, whereby longitudinal corrugations are formed on the layer; conforming said corrugated layer (2) on a second roll C3, whereby a pattern of pockets (4, 4a) is obtained; providing a pre-metered amount of SAP particulate material (6) into said pockets; providing a second sheet layer (7) material and affixing it for sandwiching with the first sheet layer; and finishing the absorbent article.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a liquid-absorbing article comprising: • - a first sheet layer (2) presenting an array of absorbent receiving pockets (4); • - masses of superabsorbent material (6), which masses are placed in said absorbent receiving pockets; • - a second sheet layer (7) placed on top of the first layer; • - bonding beads (5), ensuring structural strength, placed between the respective pockets. The first sheet layer (2) forming pleats (10) on the masses (6) of superabsorbent material, the pleats being present in a zone that extends about the periphery of the pocket thus formed.
Abstract:
Absorbent core for disposable absorbent articles, for example for the absorption of menses or blood. The absorbent core comprises a substrate layer, thereon a layer of absorbent polymer material, and thereon a layer of adhesive. Either said a substrate layer or said cover layer or both may comprises o composite of at least a first layer and third layer of fibrous non-woven webs, said first layer and said third layer comprising synthetic fibers with an average fiber denier from 1 to 6, said composite further comprises a second layer comprising pulp; the layers of the composite being placed in the order first- second- third and bonded by intertwining the fibers between the layers, e.g. by hydroentanglement. Said first and third layers of said composite may be spunbonded.
Abstract:
A disposable absorbent article includes an absorbent core, a liquid permeable topsheet, a liquid impermeable backsheet, and a pair of elastically contractible cuffs, each of which is constructed of a continuous cuff material and has a standing cuff portion which includes one or more elastic members. Each elastically contractible cuff to secured the topsheet about a longitudinal edge of the topsheet by an assembly bond, with a standing cuff portion laterally offset away from a longitudinal edge of the absorbent core and with one or more elastic members located outboard of the assembly bond.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a novel process for manufacturing an absorbent article comprising the steps of: providing a first sheet layer (2); providing an array of pockets (4, 4a) into said first sheet layer; providing a pre-metered amount of SAP particulate material (6); said pre-metered amount of SAP material being delivered from a rotating delivering drum (101, 111 ), said drum having apertures (103a, 103b, 103c, 103d, 113a, 113b, 1 13c) on its periphery corresponding to the array of pockets (4, 4a), said pre- metered amount of SAP material being delivered from the inner part of said drum (101, 111) through said apertures (103a, 103b, 103c, 103d, 113a, 113b, 113c); providing a second sheet layer (7) material and affixing it for sandwiching with the first sheet layer; finishing the absorbent article.
