This invention relates to a method for forming a panel or skin (12) for a hollow core door, a method of manufacturing a said door, a hollow core door, a panel, and an apparatus for forming a panel and skin for a hollow core door. The method comprises providing a substrate (50) comprising a patterned groove (52) therein; applying a laminating material (56) on the substrate with an adhesive (54). The method then comprises sealing the substrate with the laminating material thereon in a chamber (20) and providing at least one deformable membrane (22) adjacent the laminating material; removing air from the chamber wherein under vacuum, the deformable membrane deforms into the groove thereby urging the laminating material into the groove; heating the laminating material to facilitate bonding thereof to the substrate; and allowing the substrate with the laminating material thereon to cool so as to form a panel with the laminating material bonded thereto.

A vapor barrier (30) is bonded to the tissue layer (26) of the absorbent sheet (22) to inhibit evaporation from the concrete curing blanket (10), and includes a plurality of perforations.

The substrate defines at least two surfaces (18, 18') including a finished surface (18a, 18a') and an unfinished surface (18b, 18b'). The trim member defines at least two surfaces (20, 20') including an outwardly-facing finished surface (20a, 20a') and an inwardly-facing attachment surface (20b, 20b'). The inwardly-facing attachment surface of the trim member is arranged over and trims the unfinished surface of the substrate. The finished surface of the substrate and the outwardly-facing surface of the trim member form a cooperating finished surface (24, 24') of the assembly. The heat-activated adhesive member is disposed over both of the unfinished surface of the substrate to the inwardly-facing attachment surface of the trim member to indirectly attach the unfinished surface of the substrate to the inwardly-facing attachment surface.
