Catheters for debonding fouling agents from an interior surface thereof and related methods are disclosed. According to an aspect, a catheter includes a lumen defining a flexible, interior surface that extends substantially along a length of the lumen for contacting a biological material. The catheter also includes cavities extending along the length and positioned within the lumen adjacent to the surface. The cavities each define a cavity opening. The catheter also includes an inflation hub defining hub openings connected to respective cavity openings. The inflation hub defines a pump port configured to interface with a pump. The inflation hub defines one or more fluid pathways that extend between the hub openings and the pump port for permitting flow of gas between the pump and the cavities.

An attachment configuration for a vascular filter assembly including a self-expanding filter member attached to a catheter body and constrained from expansion in a first configuration by a constraining sheath is presented. The attachment configuration includes an outer tube of material that is overlaid over an end of the filter member and bonded to the catheter body through cutouts disposed through the end of the filter member.

A combined multi-lumen central access catheter and an embolic filter including ports proximal and distal the filter for fluid infusion and/or pressure sensing and infusion ports in the catheter to permit infusion of bioactive agents, flushing agents and/or contrast agents. The embolic filter may be removably coupled to the multi-lumen catheter for temporary placement and retrieval under recommended indications.

Steering engagement catheter devices, systems, and methods of using the same for accessing tissue, including the internal and external tissues of the heart, are disclosed. In at least one embodiment, a steering engagement catheter is provided, comprising an elongated tube having a proximal end, a distal end, and a first wall positioned circumferentially along a length of the elongated tube, the elongated tube configured such that a delivery catheter is capable of at least partial insertion into the elongated tube, at least one steering wire having a proximal end and a distal end, the distal end of the steering wire coupled to the first wall of the elongated tube at or near the distal end of the elongated tube, and a controller operably coupled to the at least one steering wire at or near the proximal end of the at least one steering wire.

A catheter array system adapted for implanting a plurality of catheters within the tissue of a patient in a spatially defined array, comprising a plurality of catheters, a catheter guide template adapted to guide the implantation of catheters, and a liquid supply system including a pressurizer and a manifold, is provided. A method of treatment of a malcondition in a patient comprises implantation of a spatially definted array of catheters using the system is also provided. The bioactive agent can be a radiotherapeutic agent, a chemotherapeutic agent, a protein, an antibody, an oligonucleotide-based therapeutic agent such as siRNA, or a combination of agents. A preferred radiotherapeutic agent is 123 I- or 125 I-IUDR, for example in the treatment of locally advanced tumors, such as glioblastoma multiforme.

The illustrative embodiments described herein are directed to a system and method for administering reduced pressure at a tissue site. The apparatus includes a reduced pressure source. The reduced pressure source generates a reduced pressure. The apparatus includes a tube having a plurality of lumens. The plurality of lumens includes at least one collection lumen. The reduced pressure source applies the reduced pressure to the tissue site through the plurality of lumens such that the at least one collection lumen receives fluid from the tissue site. The at least one collection lumen stores the fluid received from the tissue site.

A steerable medical instrument (136) includes a control handle (144), a shaft (140), steering control wires, and an end effector (100) at the distal end of the shaft. The end effector is a separate component engineered to distribute the stress and strain of bending moments along the length of the end effector to achieve predicable, repeatable, fine motion control over the distal end of the instrument. The end effector may be customized for any medical application. For example, the end effector may comprise a grasping device, a cutting devise, a snare, a specimen retrieval device, or a wound closure device (such as a stapler).

Apparatus is provided for accessing a body lumen within a patient's body. Generally, the apparatus (40) includes a tubular member (42) including proximal and distal ends (16) , a steering element extending between the proximal and distal ends, and an actuator (32) for directing the distal end between a relaxed configuration and a complex curved configuration. In the relaxed configuration, the distal end may assume a straight or curved shape. In the complex curved configuration, the distal end may assume a curvilinear shape. In one embodiment, the complex curved configuration may include a first curved portion defining an arc within a plane, and a second portion that extends out of the plane. An embodiment with a left hand rule configuration may be introduced into the right atrium of a heart from a superior approach, and the complex curved configuration may facilitate accessing the coronary sinus.
