    摘要: A catheter assembly for use in accessing a vasculature of a patient is disclosed. In one embodiment, the catheter assembly includes a catheter body that includes a flattened oval outer surface and defines first and second lumens. The catheter body defines a distal tip region that includes a venous lateral opening that is in fluid communication with the first lumen and includes a distal-facing portion. The distal tip region further includes an arterial lateral opening that is in fluid communication with the second lumen, includes a distal-facing portion, and is substantially un-staggered with respect to the venous lateral opening. A distal end opening is in fluid communication with a power injectable third lumen. In another embodiment, the first and second lumens each generally include a reniform cross-sectional shape. In yet another embodiment, a dual-lumen catheter includes first and second lumens that each define a modified ellipse cross-sectional shape.

    摘要: A multi-lumen catheter including an elliptical cross-sectional profile configuration that enhances fluid flow rate while minimizing the average diameter of the catheter body is disclosed. In one embodiment the catheter includes an elongate catheter tube defining a plurality of lumens. At least a portion of the longitudinal length of the catheter tube may define an elliptical cross section, in turn defined by a major axis and a minor axis. In one embodiment, a ratio of the major axis to the minor axis of the elliptical cross section is between about 1.3 and about 1.4. The catheter body can define two, three, or more lumens. In one embodiment, a dual-lumen catheter tube includes an aspect ratio of about 1.1:1, and each lumen thereof includes an inner surface defined by a plurality of radii and an hourglass-shaped septum.

    摘要: An cardioplegic fluid delivery catheter includes an expandable member for occluding the ascending aorta of a patient. A length of the catheter allows the distal end to be within the ascending aorta while the proximal end extends from a peripheral artery. The delivery catheter has a multi-lumen construction with a primary lumen extending configured to allow a cardioplegic fluid to be delivered to the aorta. Secondary lumens provide for balloon inflation and aortic root pressure monitoring. The delivery catheter includes a shaft having a pre-determined curve profile at a distal end of the delivery catheter. The pre-determined curve profile generally corresponds to the curve of the bottom surface of the aortic arch. The shaft may be eccentric to the expandable member such that retraction of the shaft causes a distal tip to be parallel within the ascending aorta.

    摘要: A flexible highly-articulable dual-catheter device includes an outer catheter and an inner catheter. The outer catheter contains at least one lumen to support advancement and in-situ replacement of the inner catheter. An optional second lumen in the outer catheter enables carriage of a fiber-optic line for vision to aid a clinician to advance the dual-catheter device to the desired location in a body. The inner catheter is a multi-lumen catheter that enables a hypotube and a navigation wire to be passed through two of the lumens. The provision of a multi-segment region placed at the distal end of the hypotube, with each segment of a differing durometer, enables a wide range of articulability of the device. An optional second navigation wire can also be coupled to the distal end of the hypotube to provide additional articulation. Both diagnostic and therapeutic tools can be coupled to the elongated device. Various tips such as RF energy and aspiration tips can be coupled to the dual-catheter device.

    摘要: The invention relates to a protective sleeve (1) in the form of a hose (4), having an outer lumen (40) and an inner lumen (42) disposed eccentrically therein. The outer lumen (40) is delimited to the exterior by an outer wall (41), and the inner lumen (42) is delimited by an inner wall (43). The two walls (41, 43) transition into a common wall segment (44) which has a thinnest region (48) acting as a membrane. Pressure sensor windows (11) can be provided in said region. Said pressure sensor windows are closed by a highly flexible, thin film. This can be done by means of a shrink film tube. A reusable pressure sensor catheter can be inserted into the inner lumen (42), while a rinsing solution can be introduced into the patient through the outer lumen. Reusable pressure sensor catheters can be used a plurality of times without requiring a sterilization process. The protective sleeve (1) is replaced after each use.
