Abstract:
Connector assembly including a piercing member having a flow port therein attached to a first piece, with the piercing member slidingly receivable within a second piece, wherein the piercing member and the second pierce are movable relative to each other between a first position where the second pieces closes the flow port and a second position where the flow port is open. The first piece contains a locking mechanism that lockingly engages with a device when connected thereto, preventing subsequent disconnection of first piece and the device. Upon initial connection of the first piece to the device, the second piece is moved from the first position to the second position.
Abstract:
Abstract:
A valve is provided for controlling flow along a fluid line that includes an outer shell and an inner housing slidably disposed therein that includes connector threads surrounding a boss on one end and a passage through the boss. A backing member is coupled to the outer shell and has a sealing pin extending into the passage. A connector may be threaded into the one end of the inner housing, thereby slidably engaging the connector threads, causing the inner housing to move helically from a closed position wherein the sealing pin engages an outlet opening at the distal end of the boss to seal the outlet opening and an open position wherein the inner housing is directed away from the sealing pin to open a fluid path through the valve, around the pin, and through the outlet opening.
Abstract:
Valved male luer connector including a resilient hollow element (15) enclosing a tubular member (5) having an inlet portion (6) and an outlet portion (7). A collar (28) is axially displaceable to cause a stretching deformation of the resilient hollow element (15) so as to open a cut (21) of the terminal wall (20) thereof adjacent to the initial end (11) of the inlet portion (6) of the tubular member (5). The collar (28) has a containment axial appendage (30) of the resilient hollow element (15) up to close to the terminal wall (20) thereof, and a stop means (14) for limiting the stretching deformation of the resilient hollow element (15) is provided for in the zone (19) close to the terminal wall (20) thereof.
Abstract:
Some embodiments disclosed herein relate to a medical connector having a selectively closable male end portion. Embodiments are configured to open upon connection with a female connector or female tipped medical implement. Some embodiments include an internal cavity configured to change size as the connector moves from the open to closed or closed to open positions. In some embodiments, the connector is configured to draw fluid from the male end toward the other end of the connector as the connector closes.
Abstract:
A port assembly (106) includes a housing (108) with an opening (110) and a bore (112) therethrough, a slit septum (114) disposed in the bore to control access through the opening, a base (116) joined to the housing and having a membrane (118) attached thereto, a perforator (120) having a first end (122) abutting the slit septum and a second end (124) aligned with the membrane, and a resilient member (126) disposed between the perforator and the base. The port assembly may be used in a fluid container (100) that includes a receptacle (102) for retaining a fluid, and at least one conduit (104) in communication with the receptacle. The at least one conduit may be defined, at least in part, by the port assembly.
Abstract:
A medical device connectable to a frontal attachment, the syringe having a forwardly projecting fluid outlet member and a forwardly projecting protective guard extending beyond the outlet member to protect the outlet member from pathogenic contamination by contact prior to connection to the frontal attachment.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a fluid connection (60) having at least a first and a second opening (13, 12), i.e. an inlet and an outlet, where the first opening (13) forms a fluid connection to a medication supply (6) or the like and the second opening (12) forms a fluid connection to an opening in the body (24) of a separate cannula part (7) and an at least partly sub- or transcutaneous positioned cannula (22). The fluid connection is characterized in that is attached to a surface plate (1) and has the form of a tube (60) made of a rigid material. Further the invention relates to a base part comprising such a fluid connection.
