Abstract:
Invention refers to the field of sports, specifically, to extreme sports and entertainment. Invention aims at extending both the range of tricks performed by athletes and the variety of entertainment, and at prolonging the skateboard application season. The essence of invention is that in addition to traditional wooden board with one or both turned up ends and rolling wheels under the board, the gap between them is equipped with a sliding fixative crank having a stiffly flexible handle. Complex skateboard is intended for entertainment, for strengthening legs, arms, back muscles of athletes, for body coordination and training the vestibular apparatus.
Abstract:
A ski or snowboard (4) has a lower running surface (2) and comprises means (6, 7)for attaching a boot (8) to the ski or snowboard, a deformable lubricant reservoir (5), and means (11) for conveying lubricant from the reservoir to the running surface, the arrangement being such that, in use, an attached boot can exert pressure on the reservoir to deform the reservoir and drive lubricant from the reservoir, via the conveying means, to the running surface. The means for conveying lubricant is preferably arranged to convey lubricant from the reservoir to a plurality of positions (43) on the running surface, via one or more porous members (42) that each have an outer surface which forms part of the running surface. A corresponding lubrication method is described. Also disclosed is a ski or snowboard having a lower outer surface, which forms part of the running surface, and opposing upper surface, the ski or snowboard further comprising means for conveying lubricant to the opposing upper surface such that lubricant may pass through the porous member to the running surface.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an improved ski which offers many possibilities of use in a wide range of environmental conditions. The inventive ski is bent upwards at both end sections in order to form a point at both ends. The ski is also provided with a binding plate which can be fixed in a first direction and a second direction on the ski in such a way that the ski can be used optimally in both directions. The body of the ski is thus asymmetrically embodied so that said inventive ski is optimally suitable for a wide range of conditions.
Abstract:
A traction device (54a) for a downhill ski (10) is disclosed. In one embodiment the traction device (54a) includes a traction member which is movably interconnected with the downhill ski (10). At least one biasing member actively biases this traction member toward a position where at least a portion of the traction member (54a) will extend beyond the entire lower surface of the downhill ski (10) or an "active" position. However, the traction member (54a) can be retained in a non-traction or "inactive" position by a latch (88). Appropriate movement of the latch (88) allows the biasing member(s) to move the traction member (54a) into the desired traction position. The end of a ski pole can be used to activate the latch (88) and initiate movement of the traction member (54a). In one embodiment this traction device (54a) is integrated with the structure of the binding. This allows the traction device to be automatically moved to its "active" position whenever a ski boot comes out of the binding, such that the traction device in this instance will act as a ski brake. However, the traction device (54a) can be selectively and manually moved to either its active or inactive position while the ski boot is disposed in the binding.
Abstract:
The invention discloses a method and an apparatus for detecting and measuring performance characteristics and metrics of participants and vehicles. In one embodiment, a camera (221) provides near real-time images and video footage of a participant's actions on a vehicle which can be correlated with performance metrics. The camera may be located on the participant, the participant's vehicle or other equipment, or from other observation point. The images recorded by the camera can be downloaded to a recording or other storage device to produce memorabilia. If desired, the images can be sent in real-time (205) through an event system and network to television (206), the Internet, and to other locations for producing the memorabilia or for providing images to television display devices, such as those located in a ski lodge for entertainment purposes or in a coach's or personal trainer's office for training purposes.
Abstract:
The invention refers to the creation of an optical plane (A-A1) that generates a three-dimensional vision by means of a window (2) or hole that is incorporated into sports instruments such as a golf club (3) or other objects such as tennis rackets, baseball bats, hockey sticks, skateboards and sports shoes. The optical perspective created by means of the window (2) incorporated produces information from the exterior, creating a response of increased hold, grip, equilibrium, coordination and control, thus improving the handling of the sport instrument.
Abstract:
Easier training of snow skiing and snow boarding techniques would improve safety, reduce injuries and help to promote the industry among novice skiers and snow boarders. An active camber indicator more quickly teaches proper skiing and snow boarding techniques. A relocatable ski camber sensor (150) provides active sports training for skiing and the like including levers (3, 4) extending from a planar surface (2) to be sensed for camber, a force sensitive resistor (5) affixed to one of the levers, a resilient compressible element (9) for applying varying amounts of compressive force to the sensitive resistor, and a device for indicating a predetermined amount of sensed camber (12). Applications include snow skiing and snow boarding.
Abstract:
A roller ski gear (300) wherein elastic wheels (302) are rotatably mounted on the front and rear portions of a boot resting plate (301), the elastic wheels each having a wheel supporting means having a circular rim portion formed on the outer periphery thereof and a tire portion mounted on a circular rim portion of the wheel supporting means and capable of being deformed in a direction normal to the running direction of the wheel. In the elastic wheel (302), it is possible to easily change the running direction with the axles of the wheels being maintained in the same direction, and by making use of this characteristic it is possible to operate the roller ski gear in the same way as operating a snow ski.
Abstract:
A wintertime exercise device has been described herein. Components of the device include: a board-like member (12) having a top surface (13) and a bottom surface (23) and a runner (14) secured to the bottom surface of the board-like member. The board-like member (12) and runner (14) are greater than thirty inches in length, and preferably longer than three and one-half feet. This new wintertime exercise device is used on any type of ice in a similar manner to the use of cross-country racing skis on snow. This invention provides a new sporting event to recreational users, exercisers or competitors particularly when snow or ice conditions are unfavorable for conventional wintertime activities, such as ice skating or cross-country skiing.
